Sounds good. How do you do the wind controller harmony parts?

The vids won't play in Firefox here. Sez the format is un-recognised

I watched them on Firefox on an Android 6 phone. Not arguing that it would always work. Just sayin

Sometimes YouTube says it won't play a file then I click the reload button and then youtube decides it has a compatible codec version that works after all.

Thanka Tony. That amount of work setting up the presets and mapping is incredibly impressive.

I've been using reaper lately but not intensively nor deep into the features. Geezer burnout plus my eyes have got bad and it gets annoying staring at the screen long periods even with three large monitors right in my face. Wrote a few reaper jsfx, which is a fun way to flesh out dsp ideas.

I mainly use hardware synths, do the midi composition then when the midi is right record-in the synths as digital audio tracks for final mixing. Well will occasionally play bass or guitar or some percussion tracks live via mic but not a lot.

Am using a Motu 8x8 midi express to talk to the keyboard and synths.

Maybe reaper is somehow naturally lower latency with softsynths or maybe I have something set up way wrong but using din midi playthru recording midi into reaper and monitoring on hardware synth, latency is not horrible but enough to be annoying. More din midi playthru latency than I got on some really antique sequencer programs from the dawn of midi.

I theorized that maybe reaper always waits on interface audio buffer bounds to transmit din midi. IOW handling din midi with same routines which handle softsynths. Midi plugins ferinstance are called at audio buffer bounds in reaper.

But maybe there is something else going on and changing some setting would speed up din midi playthru. Playback timing is tight but it's hard for me to record a tight track given excessive playthru latency.

I stopped using any explicitly invoked midi plugins because that obviously would require playthru delay until audio buffer bounds but dunno if that made much difference.

I'm just impressed that you have such a huge mass of midi and audio plugins instantiated (even with most muted at any one time) and you apparently get such low latency and smooth response. Fabulous work!

Liked the vocals. enjoyed both songs :tu:

super thanks , i appreciate it very much

on my soundcloud i have links to patches and reaper project files

https://soundcloud.com/tonyostinato

i'll make one for my reaper configuration files

i use a roland quad capture at 96 samples and low latency mode

i basically crippled the laptop i run it on, network and fluff removed, cortana and defender killed

one weird thing was in extensions/sws options make sure nothing is checked, especially enable record input check

i don't really know anything i just keep stumbling thru trying things and keeping what works

...but next time I suggest you lobby to be more prominently featured in the framing of the video (unless the device on the left belonged to a sponsor, of course). :hihi:
