All were taken from cassette and converted to 128kbps mp3 sometime in the 00's, then recently I converted them to wav, upsampled to 96khz, denoised and remastered them. Surprisingly don't sound too bad, though a bit plastic due to the technology of the time.

Possibly - I was at school, we were using some large external hardware-based MIDI soundbanks - I think by Roland.
It's likely a lot of sounds were shared between units.
