“Analogy Reality” is a heavier tune than I normally write which was part of the idea. The piece features UK singer Robin Schell and Dan Cubert on guitars and synths along with mixing and producing the song. I am playing NS Stick, Zendrum, organ and synth.

1960s elements to it at times...Beach Boys moments! Even early Pink Floyd at times (Syd Barrett era)

And then there's...

The heavy riffing sections with Jon Lord organ...very Deep Purple!

It worked for me...all pulled together into a cohesive musical journey.

Production-wise - only issue was I felt the vocals were sometimes a little buried in the mix and very slightly harsh...not in an invasive way though...didn't spoil the listen.

Thank you! It was a fun piece to work on especially since I had professional help on everything.

Maybe my ears are lying to me, but I feel like the mix is whatever the opposite of blown out would be. Almost mono AM radio sounding. At least on these headphones. I like the guitars otherwise, but like I said... everything on my end sounds like a glass bowl is sitting over it. Cheap AKG 240s headphones (the made in China ones).

Super stuff as usual.
Any tips on you bass sound, recording and mixing?
Is materialism devouring your musical output? :ud:

I liked it a lot. Very retro.
Mixing is hard when you have distored guitars and distorted vocals. They really fight.
2nd half of the song mix was much better.
Did you try hard panning the guitars L&R, and letting the vocals go down the middle.
I use Neutron3 to unmask the vocal when I can.

Thank you! On the bass sound, I am using an NS Chapman Stick with EMGs. My brother mixed and produced the song it and I know he likes to use Process by Sugar on the bass. I am happy with the mix and production. Of course, there are a wide range of tastes when it comes to mixing. I appreciate the listen and comments!

Dear Jeremy!

I've listened to your song "Analogy Reality" - and yeah, I am
impressed:

Acoustic intro, followed by a full vocal part, a bit psychedelic. The
overall balance is right, it sounds balanced, warm and transparent!
The break at 2:30 takes some of the energy out. Here you can hear
the bass playing. In general, this "intermediate break" seems playful.
Then the heavy guitars attack again, with a fine ping-pong delay.

The vocal melody takes a bit of psychedelic getting used to, but fits
well with the overall picture. Good song! :tu:

Thanks very much for the listen and kind words. My brother Dan (who is the professional in the family) did all the production, guitars, mixing and the added bits like the bird sounds etc.
