Bansaw wrote: Sat Dec 04, 2021 12:23 am Great job , as always. Vocals were good and married with yours well.
Aika reminded me of Melanie Martinez a little on this one.
One minor thing for me: the lead melody at 2:15 could be a stronger sound, and the bell sound with it, better too.
"Everything's fine until it isn't" - nice one.
:tu:
I need to google Ms. Martinez.

Interesting that you critiqued those two sounds. I went through 5 different variations until I settled on those sounds. I wasn't looking for the strongest sounds, just those that I thought fit with the atmosphere of the track and each other. Of course, tastes vary.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)

Frantz,
Thank you for the review! I think this is your best song overall; it gave me goosebumps twice with 2 song listens. The female vocals are fantastic! Sounds like you spent lots of time on her vocals. How many female vocal tracks on the background vocals? She might be the better singer, though your vocals mesh very well with hers on this song. Between the male & female vocals, it gives it a more romantic vibe. Instrumentally, reminds me of Depeche Mode (a compliment). Lyrics remind me a bit of Black Crowes "Remedy"; they work fine. It's all excellent; I think it's radio worthy. :)

Curious. How long did it take you to do this one from start to finish. If you told me a month, I'd believe it because it shows.
This was worked on slowly on Saturdays over a five month period including many weeks where I didn't touch it all. If I didn't have a job which requires long hours, it could have been done much quicker. Although working on this over a long period was beneficial since it gave me perspective about what was working and what should be changed.

Thanks for the listen. :)

Once again loved the slight retro edge to the production - all very well balanced and blended together.

Some seriously catchy melodic hooks here that work perfectly with the underlying harmonies.

I think the two vocal sounds blend particularly well on this one.

Really enjoyable slice of pop with some darkly contrasting lyrics for those who like to delve further!

One VERY small point (I'm a bloody annoying perfectionist...with my own stuff as well as you know):

2 mins 16 secs or so - not 100% sold on the lead sounds there? Yes, the idea is definitely spot on as a contrast to the smooth vocals, but I just wanted a little bit more depth and / or oomph to the sound maybe?

You're good. I hope you are making money with your music, because what I've heard I've been very impressed with, which is really something I don't say lightly.

I think this song perfectly describes post-covid syndrome. I heard that it could mangle with our brains and cause mental instability. "Everything is fine until it isn't" I can totally relate to that. Feeling stress and depression with no logical reason, having nightmares and dark obsessive thoughts all the time. Crazy stuff, indeed.
I'm glad you liked the production. I guess it is a pop song but quite far away from anything in the current charts.

Fortunately, I haven't had Covid yet but did have a fair amount of stress and health issues this year. So I agree, the lyrics reflect the Covid/lockdown zeitgeist pretty well.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. :tu:

As you can see, I commented 'over there' :D

Nice to see it pop up here too!
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

I'm really glad you liked it. Goosebumps are a good sign. :)

Aika provided 8 tracks of vocals for the choruses. I agree she is an amazing singer.

Thanks for your comments. :tu:

I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. Very glad to hear the vocal blend worked well for you. I used more effects on the vox this time and may have hit on a good technique.

Point taken on the lead sound at 2:16 not being satisfying. Bansaw made the exact same observation. I tried many options before settling on that sound. Perhaps it wasn't the best choice.

Thanks very much for the feedback! :)

:o ... the video is creepy. I'm not sure if this is more of a complaint or a compliment. probably if you take the text - more of a compliment. :)

Thanks very much for your kind words!

I am not making any money with this. I think my style is too far removed from anything commercial. It's more of an expensive hobby than a money making proposition. :)

I've just watched your video:

Many associations - from voodoo dolls to the searching eye. The colorful
pills and syringes are almost spooky! Oooh, have a great trip through the
world of hypochondriacs and pill areas! Text, song and video are made
from one piece - fantastic! :tu:

The video is almost as much work and effort as the song itself. In that
respect, it's very amazing, very good!
