Just a short suggestion to evaluate if it would make sense to implement multicore support for such a tool
Owning an i7 based quad-core iMac, i'm wondering this, supposing it might offer the possibility to use many more instances staying at their best resolution

Otherwise just forget it (you know : my two cents…)

Your host is supposed to put the different instances in different threads I think (unless you put them serially I guess?), so that would take care of it. Also you wouldn't want to multithread the processing part of a single instance, it's a bad idea to have something as time-critical depend on every thread doing its job in time.
