More iconic Ampeg® amps now available!

Image

IK has released version 4.6 of the powerful guitar and bass tone studio for iOS, AmpliTube, adding new iconic Ampeg gear. AmpliTube recreates the entire guitar/bass signal chain from instrument to recording device, and does so in a very realistic and intuitive way.

What's new in AmpliTube 4.6
  • 3 new officially certified Ampeg amps (SVT-VR, V4B, HERITAGE B15-N) and cabs (SVT-810 AV, SVT-212 AV, B-15N 115)
  • New Ampeg Collection, All-FX, All-Amp and All-in 2018 bundles
Default cabinet matching:
  • SVT-VR (Amp) - SVT-810 AV(Cab)
  • V-4B (Amp) - SVT-212 AV (Cab)
  • HERITAGE B-15N (Amp) - B-15N 115 (Cab)
Amps in Depth:

SVT-VR
A vintage reissue of an early 1970s “Blue-Line” SVT head. The preamp stage, power section, and even rocker switches emulate the exact signal path, tone, and vibe of the original rock ’n’ roll workhorse, from its input jack all the way to its six 6550 output tubes.

V-4B
This 100W All-Tube Bass Head is a remarkable reissue of the legendary original from 1971, delivering the pure tube tone and unmistakable grind that earned the classic a place in bass history.

HERITAGE B-15N
A design that delivers legendary tone that truly lives up to the iconic standard set by inventor Jess Oliver 50 years ago. The Heritage B-15 features the circuit paths of both a 1964 and 1966 B-15, including classic Baxandall EQ controls and premium 6SL7 octal preamp tubes along with a bias switch, recreating each years’ distinctive bias methodology.

Cabs:

SVT-810 AV
The classic Ampeg seen on stages worldwide. Identical to the Classic Series SVT-810E, the AV version has the fit and finish of the original Ampeg SVT stack. The SVT-810AV Infinite BaffleTM design has remained constant since 1969 and delivers the punchy, round sound that defines the Ampeg tone. The air-moving capability of eight 10" speakers combined reacts faster to transients than fifteens or eighteens. The result is sound that can be felt, and that truly delivers what players want out of a bass rig.

SVT-212 AV
The Ampeg SVT-212AV bass enclosure delivers pure Ampeg tone in a ported cabinet design that bridges the gap between the fast transient response players want and the rich low end they deserve. The SVT-212AV features 2x12′′ custom Eminence® LF drivers and a 1′′ compression driver with 3-way level control in a rugged cab with vintage Ampeg styling.

B-15N 115
This extremely high-quality flip-top cabinet features the legendary double-baffle design of the B-15 Heritage cabinet
and houses a custom-designed 15" Eminence® driver. The Heritage B-15 is no mere tribute; it meets and exceeds the performance, look and tone of the legendary original, down to each and every component.

oh wow, another reminder that IK has abandoned Amplitube for Android. it still runs the old "derived from" engine, rather than the new one (identical to that of PC version) the iOS version has.

The Android platform is light years behind iOS for realtime audio processing. That's unfortunate in cases like this, but true. Even with the alleged "breakthroughs" in the most recent iteration, there are huge issues and beyond that massive fragmentation that make Android a much less powerful player in the audio realm. Seems Google has abandoned more than IK on this topic.

Edit - and we know this specifically and intimately as we have worked very closely with the large players in Android audio - even with significant contributions to a very big company in the field - and the frustrations and shortcomings are very unfortunately real.

that's a cop out, because you do all your Amplitube processing on the chip in the iRig UA. you're not beholden to Google. no one has stopped you from releasing newer versions of the hardware if it requires an update.

It isn't, actually. See my edit. We can't fix everything for the platform via offline processing without ending up with the same massive fragmentation issue, and other issues. We do know the mobile market in its entirety and we do what we can with what is available and also to be able to do the amount of business that makes sense. Taking on Android audio full-on right now would only be viable if it was considered a loss leader with a way to make it viable through other methods or if there was an actual breakthrough on the horizon.

Good news is there may be, but any business would likely hedge their bets until there's some real progress based on the Android audio track record so far.
