I went through all possible combinations, and I really can't find anything else. I did notice it does not create a 1 bar ostinato, but, 2 when 1 is selected. I think that renaming the "possible variations" to "Possible Intervals" would be appropriate. There is a typo on "patterns", you have 2 colons.. lol, hey..

The only thing I can really think of is maybe making the patterns a check box, or number roll watch a ma call it (with the up/down arrow).. with an X indicating turned off for that position? But, maybe not.. feed back on that would be nice from others..

I am still learning theory, and I assume that the pattern numbers indicate the 1st 3rd, 5th, etc of the scale?

I was going to do a video, but, I think it won't be needed..

for the most part, this is a serious addition to the software. kudos!

I tried some Drum maps some time back but they didn't work, I probably did something wrong ???
Created an excel from here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... l=en#gid=2
then converted to text.

If I set it to the mapping first then drag the midi it's ok, but if I change the mapping after it stuffs the midi up and won't revert.
But don't worry about it unless it's something simple, no big deal.

Hi crossovercable,

I fixed this. What happened is that drum notes were automatically converted to use the new drum map using a smart algorithm that matches instrument names in the old and new drum maps. E.g. a 'snare drum' note in the old drum map will look up 'snare drum' (or similar name) in the new drum map. This cannot be always done perfectly, especially if there is no such instrument in the new drum map.
I added a setting ("Convert drum notes when changing drum map") which is turned off by default to not cause such problems.

Thanks,
Attila

Hello BluGenes,

I don't understand this: there is nothing that prevents you to make a 1-bar Ostinato. You have to set Pattern Length to 4/4. You can make a longer phrase if you set it to 4/4, but the first bar is repeated.
If I misunderstood something please send me a screenshot.

I renamed the controls to "Changed Notes Count" and "Possible Intervals", and removed the extra colon :dog:

Yes, almost, they indicate chord notes. 1=bottom chord note, 3=3rd, 5=5th, 4=one scale step under 5th, 6=one scale step above 5th, 2=one scale step above '1', etc.

Thanks,
Attila

Yea, it's very possible I either don't understand, or I have it set up wrong, but, this is what I see......

EDIT: noticed other generators do this too, but, not all..

I see! This bug is fixed now, you rightfully expect that the dragged phrase is 4 bars.
I did not plan to upload a new beta version in the next days because there is nothing new, just bug fixes.

Hi, "render with variations" doesn't seem to work with an octave transpose variation. Or at least, it doesn't do what I expect it to...

1. Create a phrase
2. Add a transpose phrase variation, set octave transpose to -1
3. It appears and sounds correct in the composition editor
4. Click the gear to show object actions pane, and click "render phrase with variations"
5. The notes are moved back up an octave

I'm using 3.4b7 and the composition is set to use D# chromatic scale right now.

Post

Here are a couple feature requests (I assume so, but I would love it if they already work in RC)

I am working chromatically a lot right now, so I'm pretty much always using absolute chord names instead of relative notation. These two things would help me out a bunch...

1. Toggle the enharmonic spelling of chords in the chord lane. Sometimes I want to think of it as Eb, sometimes as D#. As far as I can tell, RC only lets me see D# in the chord lane (even though the chord progression palette shows Eb!)
2. Display the scale degree right on the notes in the composition. I'm not 100% sure how this would work... but for my purposes, I'd like the names to be based on a major scale and then altered. So for example, if I have an Ebm chord and draw Eb Gb Db then I would like the notes to each have a small overlay of 1 -3 5. Does that make sense? Essentially it draws the scale degree, using a major scale as the base and the chord root.

Here's an example:

Bug: if you load Stylus RMX as a VST and turn on host sync, and loop a section in RC, Stylus will correctly play the first time around but then it will stop when RC loops.

Bug? Resizing a chord generator doesn't retain its resize mode.

1. Add a chord generator to the workspace
2. Set original length to 1
3. Set resize mode to scale
4. Drag the right handle of the generator phrase to resize it

Expected: The phrase is resized, and the chord notes extend.
Actual: The phrase is resized, and the chord notes repeat.

Bug? I added a new scale to the scales browser. If I right-click on a chord in the master track and try to select the scale from the scale dropdown, it's not there. I have to quit RC and restart it to get that scales list to refresh. It's not a huge deal (I know how to restart the program after all :) but it is annoying as I'm adding scales.

Post

Yes, the scale dropdown should be updated. This will be fixed.

For resizing phrases the 'Resizing mode' will be used (the menu above the timeline), regardless what is set in the phrase. The resizing mode is overwritten in the phrase. I know this is a bit confusing but I cannot find a better solution.

I can't fix this from my side, only the Stylus developers knows why playback stops in the plug-in.

very good new features with the ostinato and accent. for the mixer i like more no extra window for this. when there can add in the tracks a volume slider that is for audio level and show levelmeter and in the master track is master slider and level meter and a VST button to add a master VST i think best because need no additional room for a window. and maybe only later can add mixer window too.

only use midi volume have the problem that there are many plugins that support no midi volume, or are too silent, so have an audio level slider in track that can boost upto +12 db is usefull

Works for me, thanks :)

Fair enough. I figured it may have to do with sending some kind of stop message at the end of a loop (I think I'd seen it before). You're update cycle is WAY faster than Spectrasonics, so I don't see any chance of them addressing this. Nevertheless, I'll ask them :)

I've seen that, but it's not quite what I want. I'd like to be able to have, for example, F# followed by Ab. I don't see any way to do that.

Hello Attila!
Try it when importing this drum-midi file to merge the individual drum tracks into one ... I can not do it (the tracks are still imported as separate tracks, but they do not merge into one, as I noted in the import settings ..) -Beta 7 -
P.S. So far I have concluded that if the imported midi file does not initially have a 10 MIDI channel, then the program does not perceive it as a drum midi file?
