What would be the best way to define custom chords? I would like to create some generic structures that could apply to ANY root as follows:

1-Whole Step 4th: i.e., D E G, the interval between the bottom to top note is a 4th, the interval between the bottom 2 notes is a whole step.
-Half Step 4th: The minor version would be D Eb G.
2-Half Step 5th: i.e., B C G, the interval at the bottom is a half step, the top interval is a 5th.

These would be used over a variety of bass notes for instance the Whole Step 4th above D E G:
C DEG
A DEG
F DEG
E DEG etc.

Thanks for any pointers!

one way is to use the "chord selector".. On the master track, click on a chord, then click the balloon popup that looks like an artist pallet. That is the chord selector.. It has a few different tabs/purposes.. The top row of tabs is for were you want to work with, then the lower tab has different types of selection, one of which is called the "builder"..

Thanks BluGenes! So is there any way to save these structures for later use in other compositions? I have others I want to make like chords built in 4ths etc., that move over different roots. I thought about the Voicing files but I'm not sure...

they may already be saved... there is a chords tab in the browsers... you set the root you want in the master track (not the scale, the actual chord) and from the chords browser, drag to the chord on the master track.

I haven't used that much myself, but, now it peaks my interest.. hehe.. Not seeing a way to save to that particular browser.., but, only glanced over it at the moment, as it may cover all possible chords already..

Another thing you could do is set up chord rules with the chords you want to be suggested when creating a progression. You would have to watch the video on that as it's a complicated issue.. Once you understand, it isn't that bad, though.

Edit:
Also, you could build and save progressions as relative (i.e., roman numeral style) and then would be able to change to any key after that too..
