Any news on the runtime error? I have the same issue with 1.6.1 and 1.5.3, tested on two machines (German Windows 7 64bit Home Premium and Professional respectively).

Post

No, as I don't have access to a non-english Windows to test it. It would help, though, if you emailed me the log file.

Post

ok, thanks paterpeter - for any other users who might have the same issue, here is the fix:

If you installed Zen under a different account (like admin), but run it without admin privileges, Zen will not be able to find its data files because they will be located under AppData/admin.

Zen doesn't require admin privileges to run, but it needs to find its data files in AppData/<username>.

Post

Just to make it explicit: after installation, copy
<user-who-installed-zen>/AppData/Roaming/Big Tick
to
<user-who-will-use-zen>/AppData/Roaming

And presto, Zen works :-)

I am getting Effect Mismatched ID errors with many of the synths I am trying to load presets for. Absynth 5, and others( I can go back thru and try them all again and list each one if need be). Also getting plugin not installed correctly messages for Dune and Scanned Synth Pro yet they come up fine when I add them as normal in FL studio 10. message that no registry entries are found.

thoughts?

For Absynth, you have to select the "Absynth 5 Stereo" version.
For the others, this might be an issue with the plugin version. I'll update mine to the latest versions and check it out.

Which version of Windows do you use, btw ?

Do you have the latest version ? Is there anything displayed in the log file ?

Also, can you send me the exact message displayed in Reaper ?
Sure... Here it is:

This is the REAPER error window:

And the error window of the standalone application:

Thanks guys ! would like to try Zen ...

Post

The folders he mentions are in C:\Users

Post

:? ..sorry there must be a mistake i really can't see those folders .

Folders are not hidden . I just can see in C:/Documents and settings /"Proprietaire(My name)"/Application data/Big Tick/Zen/ " and here there are only 12 files and folders "

again XP french Home edition 32 bits.

..i'm asking to me if Visual c++ could be the cause of the problem ?? :? :?

Zen is crashing MAX/MSP 5

Steps to replicate:

Create a vst~ object,
send it the message "plug Zen" which loads zen.
Double-click the vst~ object to open the Zen gui.
Select an item from the results list. Max crashes....
this also happens if you send Zen a program change from Max

I note that most plug-ins (including Reaktor and Kontakt) load extremely quickly in MAX, but Zen makes the program sluggish for 10-15 seconds after loading.

I realize if you don't have a max/msp license, this doesn't help. But maybe it's easier to get a test copy from them than from logic ;) And you can download it and use it free for 30 days.

I had this result with my old Zen version (1.5.3??) so I upgraded to 1.6.1 and got the same results.

I'm using Max 5.1.9 under windows 7 64-bit on a dell lattitude e6420 quad-core laptop.

Zen continues to work fine in Reaper and Usine.

Thanks,
-eric

Zen ver. 1.6.1 beta (downloaded today from the official site)

I'm having the same problem with the zen. The difference is that my version of xp is in English. My version is 1.6.6. I uninstalled and installed version 1.6.4. but the problem persists! What can I do now?

Post

Can you try install it somewhere else ? The E:\~VST\ folder sounds fishy.

Sorry that I have used a reply in relation to another post, because I have the zen installed in c: \ program files \ Big Tick \ zen (not e: \) and vst in c: \ program files \ VST plugins \ bigtick \ zen. I uninstalled Microsoft Visual C + + and installed versions 2005, 2008 and 2010 alternately. All to no avail. Interestingly, Zen was working properly until last August. However, I can not specify changes I have made in terms of installations or uninstallations, or updates of other programs that may have generated the corruption of the operation of zen.

Hi,

Zen crashes when scanning iZotope Iris. When I try to scan it, Zen comes up with a dialog asking me if I want to blacklist it or not. This is when using either the VST or the standalone version of Zen.

I'm using Windows 7 x64 and the Iris x64 Demo.

Cheers.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Akai VIP = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.
