Should preset/sample deals be moved to their own thread?

Yes. I would also put the “want to buy” threads in separate spot too.

I tell what shouldn't be is two different threads about this subject in the Buy and Sell forum and two posts about it in the NO CHAT thread.
They belong in Site Stuff.
And once again there is a SOUNDWARE FORUM so just move all sales of presets and samples there if it's that big of a deal which it is not.

And what's next ? Instruments in their own thread, Effects in their own thread, Mac in its own thread Windows in its own thread ? Deals found by individuals in one thread deals by the commercial third party sellers in JRR Shop in another?canadian_moose wrote: Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:59 pm Yes. Who is going to moderate those threads ? The Mods are having a hard enough time just getting people to obey the 48 Hour Rule.
You guys have spent more time complaining about preset and sample sales in the Bargain thread than you would have by simply scrolling past them.

Certain developers and vendors are using the no chat bargain thread as free advertising and this seems to be the real problem for me. We're getting the same blather they send us in email filled with click bait.
And they're also often posting the same announcement in the market place as well, just under the wire of being called out for spamming. (Mostly.)
Although I voted yes on both polls, I'd be okay if all would simply follow a simple format.
Specific product with the sale price too good to miss compared to the regular price (not the inflated list) - and a link to that only.
Additional information should simply be which OS(s) and if there is a specialized license authorization required or is NFR.
No feature list, no list of ambiguous sale on everything or links to search the whole site to find if it's even really available.
In the absence of that, I'm all for booting out all the vendor/developers and getting them to advertise with KVR through the proper channels.
There was a time when that thread really benefited buyers more than sellers. That seems to have shifted to be just another one of their POS venues. Seems many of us want our sales watch without their pitching at us back is all.

Nope, that's not what I was suggesting at all. Simply that a lot of the time the 'WTB' gets easily mixed up with the 'Im selling'.Teksonik wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2020 5:51 pmAnd what's next ? No worries, you can get off the high horse now.

And ? It's been like that for years. Why is it suddenly a problem ?canadian_moose wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2020 1:15 am Simply that a lot of the time the 'WTB' gets easily mixed up with the 'Im selling'.
The point is you'll end up five different forums if you keep splitting everything up and again who will moderate all those forums ?
I don't see a problem, never have and that's not being on a high horse that's just simply a fact.

The way I look at this subject is some people are saying "I don't buy presets so I shouldn't have to look at the ads".
Well I don't buy plugins that require a Dongle so I shouldn't have to look at ads for plugins that require a Dongle.
Do you see where I'm going with this ?

@martinjuenke:
What is the objective? More visibility for samples/presets because the thread is pinned? There are already many pinned threads.
Actual result: Less visibility with people who are not looking for presets specifically.

About one in five of the posts in that thread are about presets. So if you vote yes it's because you are bothered that 20% focus on something you have decided is so 'off topic' it needs a separate place and subsequent moderating afterwards.

That's my point. There can be many definitions of what someone considers "off topic". Some may only buy instruments, some may mainly look for effects etc.
But as I have said many times there is already a Soundware Forum where only certain sales announcements are allowed. Simply allowing all sales of presets and samples in that forum may solve the "problem" although I don't see there is any real problem.
In the end we're talking about simply having to scroll past the ads you are not interested in no matter what they may be. Also again the Mods are spread pretty thin now so giving them something else to police isn't going to help.....
