TX16Wx 3.2.0 beta available (Now with AKAI support) (Updated 2019-10-25)

Update 2019-10-06:
I could not help myself so I wrote support for AKAI disk/cd images (based on the excellent reverse engineering done by mda@smartelectronix and others).
TX16Wx will now open iso/nrg/img disk images in AKAI format and read samples and programs (the latter fairly well converted). It even tries to re-create stereo samples even though the disk format is sorely lacking there.
Loaded samples will stream directly from the image.

Under the hood improvements, mainly internal testing and licence integration. Some regression fixes (24-bit wavs loaded incorrectly).

Note that it is akai _image_ support. There is not (yet?) any support for physical cd-roms (trickier).

I hope someone can help. Pardon my "newbieness"

I'm in the same boat, having many AKAI CDs, and no way to use them. ... I'm hoping this VST can do it.
I understand it can read images...

What is the easiest/free? way to access my AKAI CDs for use with the TX16Wx ?

TX16Wx can read Akai disk images, but it cannot read CD:s directly (because hardware is ugh to access and I don't have any physical cd:s to experiment with).
To use your old physical CD:s, get any of the free disk image creation programs available. and just make a raw copy of your CD:s to harddrive. I will not make any particular recommendation, because I have not used any of the now available tools, but a quick google search for "free cd disk image creator" or similar should get you started.

So I can read the disk images (ISOs) and pull samples I need from it? Do I always need to have the ISOs mounted after I load the samples I need?

You do not need to mount the images. TX16Wx can browse and reference samples in them directly on disk, similar to a sound font. Of course, you can also always choose to save the full imported programs or banks with all samples to wavs once read, should you prefer.

Apols for another newbie question... I have a bunch of AKAI sample diskette images - in hfe format (Gotec drive) which I use with a DPX-1 sample player. What format do I need to get these into for TX to 'understand' them? I've tried creating a 'raw' file, but when I try to load this, I get an error message = "Invalid format in partition A"
