Bill in the merge clips video I was wanting to hear the end result of the merge but it never came.

Yeah, that would have been nice. Too bad I can't fix existing YouTube videos. I have to just delete and make a new one. Next time I will try to remember to playback the result of whatever edit I make. Good catch.

Oh, the side chaining feature looks really good! I hope it works just as smoothly with third-party plugins. (I haven't updated from T5 yet so I can't really tell; I'm gonna wait until I'm done with this tune I'm currently working on.)

Great work, Bill! :D

Great work, Bill! :D
I will need to test the side chaining further. It know it's a feature of the Tracktion Compressor. I am not sure it works the same for 3rd party plugins.

It sure does :)

Cool, I will see if I have plugin with a side chain to try that with! Fabfilter Pro G or Pro C perhaps.

AFAIK, you can do this in all versions, the new feature is basically that it sets it up for you automatically (the part where he selects kick from the drop down menu). In T5 you will probably just have to load both racks and set the wet/dry on the properties panel yourself. The kick would be set to 100% dry and the other track would be 100% wet, then you just connect the sidechain to the plugin in the rack, and you might have to select the external sidechain option on the plugin you're using.

[EDIT: Forgot to add, the kick's rack properties menu needs to have either left or right input goes to sidechain, and the other set to none]

I messed around with the sidechain feature today and noticed that as per your video, when you select left or right channel on the kick track as the sidechain input, it leaves the other side as a pass through and you have to manually turn it to none in the kicks rack properties menu or else it will come through the drums rack. It was hard to tell in your video, and you never click on the kick rack, but it looked like maybe the right side had more energy on the drum meters. Can you check this out? I imagine that the intention should be to automatically have the other channel set to none, but I could be wrong.

I don't have time to work on this today, but I will try to investigate this more next week. I setup up a side chain with a 3rd part plugin and while it's not hard to setup, it didn't seem to be doing what I expected.
