Legally, you don't.

That would violate YouTube's terms of service and thus copyright law.

...unless it was your own content, then I think that would be legal or maybe there is some cco licensed vides on youtube, I'm unsure. Anyway when I'm back using waveform tomorrow \i will try and guide the OP on how this is possible. I'm running on a Linux OS so the mileage may vary as I can pretty much snap anything of any source that plays on my pc already.

sometimes only a couple of sounds are needed
which does not violate the rights of youtub.

Recording any sounds at all from YouTube that you did not create would violate copyright law unless they fall under a fair use doctrine in your country.

Is that myth still floating around that it's okay if it's only a short amount of time? People used to say something like "if it's less then 5 seconds, you don't need permission". It was untrue then and it's still untrue now.
