Iosif: Interference Pattern Step Sequencer
K-Teck presents Iosif - a new way to step sequence
Iosif combines 2 innovative techniques to create monophonic melodies/basslines/whatever:
  • A 3*integer Interference Pattern generates complex, evolving rhythms
  • K-Teck's advanced Scale Scanning module to apply melody to the rhythm

Iosif makes machine music new again
Iosif creates complex, non-repeating rhythms by generating a series of Trigger Pulses from an ‘Interference Pattern’ formed by the interactions of 3 numbers
These 3 numbers control 3 looping Pattern Counters
Every time a Pattern Counter resets a note is triggered in the Scale Scan Module
The Scale Scanner is taken from Adlais V - it has been improved with full control over 10 octaves

Iosif is an exceptionally powerful step sequencer with a deceptively simple UI and has surpassed all expectations

Thank God, yet another M4L sequencer!

Looks and sounds intriguing! I really like how this is based on exploring Schillinger's rythmic theories.
I have not-dissimilar ideas I've been meaning to implement for a while, time to get back to learning Max!

Ableton only eh?

EDIT:

Didn't notice the 'M4L' in the thread title until now :dog:

@Winstontaneous
like you I've had this in mind for several years
I first tried in Reaktor and got nowhere...
Lectric Panda's Evolution RE is the only other commercial one I know
and I know he's going much further atm...
I have prototypes of Schillinger's note selection algorithms:
https://youtu.be/ZFqgE2EdSBc
but tbh I prefer the Scale Scanning Module for electronic music
I even have a complete composition environment - notes, harmonies, phrases, sections etc.
but is too big for M4L...

Iosif is really simple to use and the results have exceeded my expectations
and I have a lot of step sequencers ;)

@Halonmusic
yes
I would love to work with wordy code
but I'm very dyslexic and struggle to read it and even worse: see the connections
so I work in M4L and Reaktor
I would love to work with a code person in Voltage Modular for instance
I think most the VM sequencers are disappointing

I'm thinking of porting this and Adlais to Reaktor
but is a big project and nobody has asked...
