Hey
I recently bought a device that came with a bunch of .adv preset files. I tried draggin´and dropping the files onto the device and opening them from within Live, but nothing is happening. Is there a MFL specialist, who can tell me what im doing wrong?
Im using Win 10 and the latest version of Live 10
Thanks

I don't know specifically about that, but older M4L pretty much always break and can crash your whole Live project. Basically if they're not updated as part of a Live pack or by the developer, they're very likely to break with each new update of Live. It's a recognised flaw.

Thats not my experience at all. I got numerous older devices, that I use frequently in both old and new versions of Live without any problems:-)leeleema wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:40 am I don't know specifically about that, but older M4L pretty much always break and can crash your whole Live project. Yep me too - Have m4l devices since it was first a thing (like the Robert Henke ones) and all still work absolutely fine on the latest version to Ableton
Anyways, to use the adv you don't need to drag it onto an existing max device (it'll do nothing like you say): drag/double click the adv from the places area onto an empty device chain/channel it'll load that specific max device AND ALSO then load that preset for that device. If it's a third party .amxd (i.e. not installed via an .alp from the Ableton store etc.) you normally have to ensure that the adv files remain in the same folder as the max device.
