KClip - Version 3.0.2 - build 2 - April 23, 2018

Maintenance update to resolve issues from KClip 3.0.1

Issues resolved:
  • Crackling sound during Quality slider changes has been addressed. Quality slider changes now only take effect once the current session has been closed and reopened.
  • Slider mouse tolerances throughout the plugin have been adjusted to be 20-40% faster, by popular demand.
  • Minor optimizations to the audio thread to increase efficiency of plugin instantiation.
Installers: Documentation: Please include the following information with any reports (bugs, or even just to say it's working great!)
  • Operating system / version / bits (32 or 64)
  • DAW (recording software) / version / bits (32 or 64)
  • CPU make/model/speed
  • Audio interface hardware
  • Sample rate and buffer size of your session
UPDATE 4/23 - KClip 3.0.2 build 2 - changes from build 1:
  • Mouse tolerances are adjusted to be even faster still. Use "ctrl" when moving a slider for more finite control.
  • Posted to the release track - no longer beta.

Sorry I could only test the knob issue, which doesn't actually seem to have improved much. It could also be because of my far-from-optimal resolution (1440*900) which makes the GUI appear very big on the screen even if shrinked to its minimum size.

Here's an example with the kclip threshold knob, with the plugin window brought as high as possible on my screen, compared with a synthmaster (randomly chosen vst) knob.

GIF ---> https://imgur.com/a/rpBau8u

Accordingly to these speed/acceleration setting, the finetuning (ctrl+drag) ends up being too slow or too fast. Feels quite weird.

To me, it feels like an issue related to the allowed range of acceleration (both on the lower and upper edge, and/or possibly the acceleration curve) but I don't know anything when it comes down to actually write down code for this stuff.

Not bashing, just giving feedback.

Agreed, have it real fast by default and then if the user holds down a modifier (like alt or ctrl) reduce it to the current speed. Using Niowiad's gif as an example I think it should behave like the speed of that Volume dial as default, and like the Threshold dial with the modifier held down

I'm away from my machine at the moment but I don't remember there being this issue with KClip/Pro 2 - Has something significantly changed in the GUI framework code that has caused this to occur ?

Mouse sensitivity is only slightly improved. Small knobs still need too much movement, but the worst offenders are master controls on the bottom. Threshold knob is impossible to drag from the maximum value all the way to minimum value in one move. I always reach the bottom of the screen before hitting halfways of the knob... 1920x1200 here.

Working on 3.0.2 build 2 with even faster mouse tolerances (across the board, also specifically, I've taken Threshold out of the slow group.) It's going to be hard to make finite increments now unless you hold down 'ctrl', FYI - so expect this to be a considerable difference even from the build you guys are using.

I'm also working with some Mac testers to further isolate issues specific to that platform in multiband. Look for build 2 to go up this week!

Thanks!

Build 2 is up. I'll be taking it live as the official version 3.0.2, as it offers improvements over 3.0.1 and is stable.

The official release of 3.0.2 fails validation in Logic Pro 10.2.4, OSX 10.10.5.

3.0.1 was okay, as was an earlier build of 3.0.2 (build 1, I guess).

All that changed between build 1 and 2 was the mouse tolerance. Doesn't fail validation here. Maybe try purging the AU cache?

Re: KClip 3.0.2 download

Totally uninstalled KClip 3 using the uninstall tool in the Applications folder. Removed the 'com.apple.audiounits.cache' file to purge the cache. Same result: 3.0.2 failed validation. Error log below.

However, when I used Time Machine to roll back to my previously installed version of KClip 3, it was identified as 3.0.1 – 14 April 2018. So I was mistaken when I said that 3.0.2b1 had validated. I *did* install that version, but it looks like it also failed validation and I reinstalled 3.0.1 and moved onto other things. Sorry about that.

So, in summary: 3.0.2 fails AU validation on Logic Pro 10.2.4, OSX 10.10.5, while 3.0.1 passes AU validation.

Have the AU compiler settings changed between 3.0.1 and 3.0.2?

When I post change lists, they are complete. Nothing changed other than what I stated. Furthermore, I just re-checked with auvaltool (same version as you!) and voila, it works here as expected.

updating properties of AU KClip3 by Kazrog LLC…done.

Try restarting your Mac maybe? If that doesn't work, try clearing your AU cache.

Yes, I've cleared the AU cache and restarted the Mac. Logic's Plugin Manager still reports that it can't open 3.0.2.

Were you using OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite when you re-checked 3.0.2?

High Sierra 10.13.3 at the moment. However, I've got testers running 10.9.5 and 10.10.5 with zero issues. Your auvaltool log entry looks corrupt now that I read through it. Lots of weird metadata from random plugin vendors interspersed. You may have hard disk corruption or at least permissions issues that need sorting.
