That ampsim always baffled me.. Way dark and bassy at the initial stage, a bit of a strange sound... I tried for a few weeks to get something usable out of it but always fell short.. Didn't understood it..

After a reboot of my expectations, i retried and decided to stop setting knobs with my eyes instead of my ears.. And found a ..really.. great sound!

boost. I use TSC but you could use Vintage driver. I don't understand quite well kazrog pedal (i own them all) so I prefer to use something i'm familiar with. gain 0 vol full. the classic.

channels, jumped. - more gain. more highs
gain 1, 4
gain 2, 6 - one is bassier than the other. to be tweaked to taste

Bass, 1 or 2 (maybe 3? it was low anyway). - "but I love bass". add postEq if you want bass.. in the sample I didn't. bass freq distort weirdly and i hate fuzz.
mid, 6
high 6
presence 6 - let's call that the :borg: kazrog's 666 :borg: . Seem to work in all thermionik sims. cool trick.

saturation 8 - that's the kind of knob who sole purpose is to be near maxed. It should be a on/off switch. Who wouldn't max it? :D

IR choice is important. I use my own IR who is brighter and crunchier and have less bass. I always struggled with commercial IR. too dark, woofy or too fizzy or they sound like an AM radio.

Add room and plate reverb...

It may sound very light in the bass but when a guitar guitar will be added she will have her own reserved sonic space and should come out distinct.

Plenty enough bass there IMHO.

Thanks,

I wonder how many quality ampsims where dismissed by users because they choose the wrong IR.

I'm guilty of that one. I guess that's the risk of giving the average user too much rope (modularity and parameters).. they might hang themselves with the various options/routing/parameters

BTW, I didn't tried those settings on the modded plexi in thermionik (soldano and jose), not sure they would work "as is", they are quite different amps. They are next.

edited the sample to remove some sizzle in the 6khz range (3 notches removed the weird frequencies )
