I had been putting this one off because I knew it would be a massive undertaking for me.. But, it worked..

My boot drive on my PC, is a 4 terabyte drive. All of my libraries are on this drive. So, basically they only get written to if there is an update. Meaning, they don't move around, staying in the same spot on the drive.

All I did was defrag it. It took about a week to do it, but, the performance increase is amazing. Everything loads a lot faster now. It started out with 25% fragmentation, now it's hovering around 3% to 4%.

All I did was run the process for a few hours at a time, sometimes even over night. If I would have ran it all at once, it would have taken about 4 days, running 24 hours a day. So, I did it a little at a time..

I did use a 3rd party tool as well. The built in Windows process for defragging works just as well, though. Both options even can be set to run when the machine is idle.. But, have this off..

anyways, thought I pass this along..
