Right, there's a simple reason for that similarity: when I and Michael Olsen decided to design and build a synth plugin together we needed a simple "achitecture template" to start with.
And since Michael worked for KeyToSound in the now abbandoned neXsyn development, he proposed to copy the layout of it, which he found clear and straight. We discussed for some days about that, gathered info about, and I was then convinced to use that GUI design as template. Also I liked some nexSyn features.
That would lead to two advantages, Michael would have worked with a "friendly" plugin structure and could use some of his code he already shared with nenSyn.
Be sure that Entity sounds nothing like nexSyn, it doesn't share any DSP with it
except the Reverb and one Osc written by Michael.
Yeah they look very similar for the modules and knobs arrangement but that's all about it.
(Thanks abstractcats for the positive words)

Actually I improved that osc while working on Entity, and moved the noise floor and aliasing from around -100dB or so down to -130dB or thereabouts (depending on settings etc.) : - )liqih wrote:Be sure that Entity sounds nothing like nexSyn, it doesn't share any DSP with it

I always found that Nexsyn had so much potential in it's basic design, but lacked something sound-wise (and I'm not even going to go into the business model! Please let us not turn this into another we-all-hate-koblo-thread : - )).
So, I think it's a clear way to make a layout, and combining my oscs and effects with Luigis physical modelling and synth know-how just seemed like the right thing to do ; - )
Cheers,
Michael Olsen

I liked the sound of Nexsyn a lot, especially at the $50 price. It is a shame that Max Gronlund did not have a better plan with NexSyn and Koblo. And your are right about the we-all-hate-koblo part, it would be a waist of time and energy and it seems that Koblo may be making a comeback and those of us who paid for Nexsyn might see it again some day.Michael_Olsen wrote:

I do look forward to trying and maybe buying Entity, as long as its not C/R copy protection.
Any way thanks for the post Michael

Entity most definitely is not challenge/response protected!abstractcats wrote: I do look forward to trying and maybe buying Entity, as long as its not C/R copy protection. :(

I've had a quick run through the presets, and so far ... very impressed. Reasons patches stood out particularly. I'm gonna need a manual to get my head around the programming, but this seems like a very capable synth to me.
Nice one
@liqih Thanks for the quick guide
