I cannot save a user preset without Ardour crashing.
Is this some sort of Linux bug.
Hive 2 on AV Linux - saving user presets crashes Ardour.

It's an Ardour bug (the fix was reversed later for some reason and is why Ardour is crashing):

The only way around this that I'm aware of is to either build Ardour from git or file a bug report and let them know about the problem.

1) I've been running Ardour from git for a long time without issues, but I'm also not working on full-blown projects just yet.
2) qtractor also works.
