Good morning #KVRCommunity!

Last night I came across a video by Sean Divine, where he shares 10 instrument plugins he can't produce without.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9xcg383TXs

I'm curious to know... if you could only use 10 instrument plugins for the rest of your career - which would be on your list? 8)

That's all I need

However I do want to pick up Omnisphere at some point.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

Okay well...if limited to 10 I’d want to cover all the bases so...

Kontakt.
EastWast.
Xfer Serum.
Diva
Battery4
Synthmaster2
ANA2
Reaktor
UVI Falcon
Sylenth1

I think those 10 can make any sound you could possibly throw at em...

Pigments might replace one of those eventually.
I’m Splicing it and It’s growing on me fast.
Didn't wanna jump the gun however.

IF i had to really pick a limited amount it would probably be these.

Probably just the following
for electronic music production with a focus on LOW CPU / High quality sound for multiple instances in real-time.

1. NI Kontakt
- Cpu friendly, capable of creating huge sounds for little CPU usage.
- TONS of 3rd party packs to choose from.
- Nice builtin FX.

2. NI Reaktor
- Great for sound design / Sample creation, FX etc
- Lots of low CPU gems that still sound excellent.
- Reaktor Blocks can be fun and inspiring
- Lots of Professional 3rd party ensembles to choose from such as Twisted Tools that expand on what you can do.
- Plenty of NI professional ensembles to expand Reaktor with such as Monark , Razor etc.

3. U-he Zebra2 /Dark Zebra
- Awesome low CPU/High quality synthesizer that is capable of a wide range of sounds
- Sits in a mix quite well
- Dark Zebra gives you the "analog" sounding filters of Diva so you get the best of both worlds.
- Comes with a FX version to let you use the great FX on non-synth tracks.
- plenty of Preset banks out there

4. U-he Hive
- Great modern sounding synthesizer workhorse that is quick to use and can cover a wide range of sounds.
- Low CPU meaning you can get a lot out of this with multiple instances.
- High quality built-in FX.
- Plenty of preset banks out there.
- Sounds good in a mix.

I honestly don't think I'd really need anything else ..

I've been contemplating selling off my lot of plugins so I can work with just this limited setup in Bitwig Studio. Sometimes less is way more.

If I had to I could get by with only one, I'm just not sure which one it would be and my choice would change over time. Ask me today and I'll say Thorn but tomorrow I might say Hive or Factory. Eventually I'll get bored with all of those and then it will be something else.

If you'd asked me two years ago, my top 10 would only have one synth in it that it would have today - Orion's Wasp. Ultimately I'm sure I can get by with whatever was available because a synth is a synth is a synth and I'll get what I need out of whatever is front of me if that's all I have to work with. Everyone should be the same.

Anyway, here goes -

Wasp
Thorn
TRK-01 (+ Reaktor Player so I can use it)
Hive
Battery (gotta have drums)

I consider those five most useful at the moment, everything else is just gravy. But once I get my head into Factory, Cyclop, Iris 2 and Sektor, which I've bought recently but been too busy to get stuck into, the list might change again.

If that's the video I watched last year, the guy seems to say that you need this kind of synth and that kind of synth, rather than a list of actual instruments, but I don't see it like that. I don't need a sampler, I don't need a V/A and I especially don't need a freakin' wavetable synth. All I need is something that makes a pleasing noise that I can sculpt into whatever I need.

And who is Sean Divine that anyone would give a rat's fat arse what he uses?

Was just thinking the same.

Same as Sarah, someone with online presence that shares tips and get endorsed by vendors, he was kinda interesting in the beginning when he had less endorsements, now he's just your usual click bait with absolute beginners content.

Ah, I originally thought that was just an ad at the top of the page, didn't notice the forum the thread was in. So, a couple of nobodies, then.
