I am still on the lookout for a decent deal on a Billy Bo custom shop.

Yeah.... We're going to have to agree to disagree on that one.donkey tugger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2019 6:55 am The trouble with having this bastard Variax is that, whilst the electrics modelled stuff is generally top-notch, it does then make you want the bleedin' geetars themselves. I never knew before that I really wanted a telecaster and a semi-acoustic..
I think it sounds like arse compared to the guitars it intends to model. There is an aliasing, clipping thing going on that drives my ears nuts. I thought the variax was going to be my be all end all and... It paled so far in comparison to both the guitars I've had previously and the ones it tries to model it's not even funny.
That being said I'm on the long mission to replenish the harem.
The guitars I seek aren't available on the variax nor could they appropriate a facsimile of them.

I feel like the Variaxes (spelling?) are VERY poor quality imho. And another thing, the tuning is aliased as f...k. So, if I'm following, they have some great advantages, but they never quite got it right.

Actually I have zero complaints regarding fit and finish. The neck is amazingly playable.reggie1979 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 1:15 am I feel like the Variaxes (spelling?) are VERY poor quality imho. Hehe, being more of an indie bastard songwriter, not a widdler, I never notice any of this stuff, all about the end result and the recording for me.. Same with amp sims - always wonder what some of the more 'purist' axe wielders are chelping on about. They always sound fine for my purposes.

I never cared for the necks. We are all different.tapper mike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 2:57 amActually I have zero complaints regarding fit and finish. Well, I am officially in the hunt. I am looking at an Eastman E6D, which may satisfy my desire for a spruce/hog dread. And I'll only have to sell off my Bigsby Casino to cover most of the cost. Just waiting to hear back for a price enquiry.
EDIT: got the price quote, acceptable.
Now, I am getting picky. Do I really want a dread? What about the same model as an OM? What about their cheaper alternatives, like the E1D and E1OM?
Decisions....decisions... I have a grand to play with.

Well, the shop I was dealing with sold the E6D before I could make up my mind. I've also decided not to get a dread. Eastman dreads are BIG, deeper than my Martin D-28.
I was given an offer I couldn't refuse on this:

https://www.eastmanguitars.com/e10om
Which is ordered, will be setup tomorrow, and will arrive next week. Adirondack spruce over mahogany, ebony fretboard and bridge. I had the dread version of this guitar, and it was a cannon. I sold it because the truss rod was a little dodgy (which I told the guy I sold it to), and it was a bit uncomfortable to play because it was so yuuge.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pull the trigger on this. I can afford the payments and really like the price! It's down about 400 bucks. The only thing is I'll probably swap out the electronics for an Emerson.
I love my strat but it's all kinda fecked up. Might be able to street buy it at GC for a couple of bucks.
Maybe this color instead?

They're showing up as the same colours, here. Looks nice, though!

I'm partial to the Champagne and Jade Pearl ... But sure, whatever look your into. An elite strat is a good instruments . Why get one if your gonna pull out the guts. Might as well get a regular strat and not the elite.
