I think there was quite a bit of variation in the Danelectros. I compared a couple to a real Timmy and an accurate clone. One of the Danelectros was very close for most settings while the other was well off. It was the same story with the other Cool Cat (often said to be an OCD clone but more like the Voodoo Labs which the OCD is based on). I tried two and it was like using completely different designs.
Interesting! And they were all Version 1's?

The CTO-1 I owned was quite good and I dare say even more transparent than the Timmy. I really don't know why people describe the Timmy as being transparent because it has a big, brown, awesome sound with tons of character. It sounds like a thousand records, too, since so many pros use it. If anything, the CTO-1 reminded me of the original Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal, which is also quite transparent.

Well, I have to be careful because I made a Klon-type pedal. The Soul Food is really the only one I'll comment on because it's so far from the original. The other Klon-type pedals on the market are very good.

FWIW, we sell my pedal, the Tone Bakery Creme Brulee, for $99:

I'd love to buy pedals from you - but by the time you add postage to the UK, and then UK customs hammers you with VAT and the extra charges - then it's not cheap anymore.
That's why I've been paying attention to the UK builders, and sellers - except for the "big name" brands that are available all over.

This pedal GAS is worse than plugin GAS!
At least you get a physical object not code, that's the way I look at it, actual components.
Currently trying to turn noise into music.

Distributed in Europe too, a quick look yesterday got me this link, for starters. Reliable shop, extraordinary guitar brand. https://www.haarguitars.com/product/creme-brulee/

Have you checked out this guy?

Based in Spain. His pedals are accurate clones of originals, but he’s open to do mods.

I love all 3 pedals I’ve bought from him so far.

Absolutely - I just meant price-wise it's more dangerous 😉

Cool! I'll have to check out some videos 😉
I'd never heard of the pedal and never heard of the dealer.
I'm relatively new to this. I've been using all software until a few months ago.

Before that, it was all Boss and Ibanez pedals from the 80s 😉

I bought a nice DOD 250 clone from here

http://www.bigknobpedals.com/dod250.htm

I seem to remember they were UK based when I got it, years ago.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Them I know 😉

And I got a couple from Magnetic Effects (Lonley Robot and Zig Zig) - I like them a lot.

Ive got a nice collection of dirt pedals now (I use plugins and amp sims for everything else) and now I need to get a litle more familiar with them, and actually -use- them for recording 😉

dirt and gain are imo where software still has a ways to go. most especially in fuzz, software just doesnt break down naturally

flangers too, though other modulation stuff has come close.

but theres nothing like feeling the pedal click on under the foot, as the sound instantly changes.
its a primal thing. grrrr.
