I just noticed that the Weezer pedalboard is in a rack drawer. I assume this means a sound tech is doing the switching for him but wouldn't it be cool if you could pull your drawer out, place it on the floor, and be ready to go?

i saw a vid s while back with biffy clyro.
his pedals (main guy) were in draws, but he had one of those gig rig things, which he did the switching on himself. but all he had on stage was the gig rig and a wah pedal. (maybe a volume).

not sure how that worked though to be honest, don't they need the pedals plugged in as well?
maybe that was in there and he was using a midi switch controller?

Yes, I think you're right about the switch controller. That's how the old Bradshaw switching system worked, it's basically a midi controlled patch bay that brings pedals in and out of the circuit. It's funny to use a $2,000 switching system with $100 pedals, especially when all of those TC pedals are inside of the Plethora multi-effects pedal.

It's funny to use a $2,000 switching system with $100 pedals, especially when all of those TC pedals are inside of the Plethora multi-effects pedal.

I have two Voodoo Labs Hex switchers for MIDI control and a few of these https://www.jhspedals.info/switchback. I can control all of them from one of my Pacer controllers. This allows me to have the pedals within arms reach, while still being able to switch them in and out with my feet.

Boutique Big Muffs boggle my mind. Used Electro Harmonix pedals were $5 in the 80's. No one wanted them!

Fuzz Faces I can understand because there's a huge chasm between a good and a bad one. Dunlop themselves make some of the best I've used (Eric Johnson Signature, FFM2) and also one of the worst (Band of Gypsies).

Many boutique delays and reverbs are based on the PT2339 digital delay chip and, while fine sounding, just don't make sense to me. You can a real analog pedal or a Boss/Line 6/TC modeler for the same price. The Boss DD-200 is such a killer pedal.

I like Electro Harmonix's latest range of Muff reissues, and I suspect they're on par with the boutique pedals that tried to emulate them. I own all 5, 3 of them with JHS mods (for extra sounds/features - do the mods make 'em boutique? ).

I also own a ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud, I suppose that counts as a boutique Muff. It oozes build quality, but soundwise, it seems a little too civil to be my favourite. But it would prolly outlast any Muff comes muffroom cloud day
Although some claim that most manufacturers (even boutique shops) use switches that are specced to die after a relatively small number of activations.

As to the "Band of Gypsies" Fuzz Face Uncle E dislikes, it's my favourite (I guess more conventional Fuzz Faces simply aren't my favourite kind of fuzz).

Most of my boutique pedals were bought at a fair price, are not especially trendy, and either use a novel design or improve on a classic design. These arguments don't apply.
