Superb! I can't wait to try this later!

I'll return soon when I have something more useful to say than thanks!

Post

Tried it yesterday evening and installed it without any troubles.
Loads perfect in bitwig and as far as i tried to use it it's working without any problems.

Using Debian testing/unstable.

For now, to install the newer revision, do the following:

1) Download these two archives:
Revision 2746
Revision 2758

2) Unpack 2746 and install with ./install.sh according to instructions in 1st post.

3) Unpack 2758 and copy the extracted folder Podolski-2758/Podolski/ to /home/USERNAME/.u-he/, replacing the Podolski folder that's already inside the .../.u-he/ folder.
Cheers

I installed it but ardour can't find it...

Post

I'm new to Linux myself, and I don't know much about Ardour... but the manual says this:
Linux VST (LXVST) plugins are distributed as shared library files. They are typically installed in /usr/lib/lxvst, /usr/local/lib/lxvst or a directory mentioned in your LXVST_PATH environment variable.
So I guess you have to add the /home/USERNAME/.vst/ path to your LXVST_PATH env var if it isn't already.

Right, all that stuff in quotes - '/home/pc_fire_beats/Transferências/Podolski-2746/install.sh' - shouldn't be there. But it does tell me what you can do next. Open a terminal and enter this command:

Code: Select all

cd /home/pc_fire_beats/Transferências/Podolski-2746/
Then enter :

Code: Select all

./install.sh
And let's see what happens.

Best,

It indeed installed but I dont seem to be able to get it on the arranger (it may be because this is actually the first time I am using VSTs on Bitwig (I have been having lots of fun it BEW instruments)

Here is a print screen if it helps you.

pc999, which distribution and which version of the glibc do you have?

Ubuntu 14.04 64bits

I have no idea, how to see the version of the glibc.

BTW latest official AMD drivers for 7700HD.

I've only had chance to listen to the presets and play around with a few of them a little bit so far but Podolski seems to be working nicely for me under Ubuntu 14.04 / Tracktion 5.3.9.

Can't wait to play with it more thoroughly soon as its a great sounding synth and it being free and for Linux is a minor miracle.

Thanks again Urs and Abique!

Look in synaptic for libc6. Mine was 2.15, I added
debian testing repository, and upgraded to 2.19.

Abique mentioned this command:

ldd $HOME/.u-he/Podolski/Podolski.so

so I also updated everything in it's output.
With that, and their folder/installer updates,
it's works almost perfect, as tested in qtractor and bitwig.

It does work perfect in reaper/wine
Life is just like that sometimes :hihi:

Try this command in a terminal:

Code: Select all

ldd --version
Mine reports 2.17. However, I believe that the glibc stuff is taken care of by the static build.

Run this command in a terminal:

Code: Select all

export LXVST_PATH=$LXVST_PATH:/path/to/your/vsts/
It looks like this for my system:

Code: Select all

export LXVST_PATH=$LXVST_PATH:/home/dlphilp/vst/
Then launch Ardour from the same terminal you ran the export command.

Note that Ardour is finicky about the LXVST_PATH variable, it won't read subdirectories. You'll need to add them to the variable export, e.g. :

Code: Select all

export LXVST_PATH=$LXVST_PATH:/home/dlphilp/vst/:/home/dlphilp/vst/DISTRHO/:/home/dlphilp/vst/Loomer/
and so forth. Bit of a pain, IMO, unless I'm missing something to make it easier. You can add plugins during a session, as long as you rescan via the Plugin Manager window.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

I'm super excited about u-he plugins for linux.

Works fine here with renoise on slackware 14.1(64 bit).

Crazy tool! Thank you!

To fix installer, just change line 55 "if" to "fi"

It's amazing to have at last some high quality plugins for Linux.

This will boost development for native Plugins.
