Hive 2.1: new sonic territory

This is a fantastic update, thank you very much! The new skin looks great, but it changes the workflow too much for my taste. Maybe I'm just too used to the old one, which is still one of the best UIs out there.
Agree with pdxindy - Hive strikes a great balance between usability and sonic potential, which now seems limitless.

It will happen, actually. EventuallyVibemachination wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:35 am"tiny-interface-on-my-sampler-software-that-is-never-going-to-be-updated-for-retina-displays-despite-being-a-priority-feature-asked-by-customers-for-years-now"

Surge Synth Team does. In fact, all those items you have listed were a part of Surge 1.8 update as well. Also for free.Vibemachination wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 11:35 amI mean... seriously : Apple Silicon native compatibilty (where "big names" are still making us waiting for that and I guess the wait will continue for months...), new filters, 100 new presets, new theme, new modulation models... for free ??? Who else is doing things like that in the audio industry nowadays ?

Cool update.
It's always interesting how almost none of the options/features I personally would have asked for show up in an update, but the ones that do ultimately turn out to be pretty useful or at least save some time (looking at that noise mod here) from doing it some obtuse way I had to make up in ye olden days ha-ha.
I guess that's a tribute to how progressive the U-he stuff is eh.

Nice patch! I agree, Hive have become a simple to use, yet vast playground for sound design, love it.pdxindy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 12:27 pmHive 2.1 - new filters, uhm wavetables and pitch quantized modulation... this would have been unimaginable in the first release of Hive. Hive is vastly more sonically diverse yet still fast and easy to use!

Pdxindy, do you save these patches and/or sell them? You're doing some really great stuff with Hive these days.

Just purchased Hive 2.1 and unfortunately it crashes my computer instantly when opening. I'm on an old 2010 Intel MacBook Pro OS 10.13.6 running VST2 in Ableton 10.1.30. I own all the other U-He synths and they run flawlessly. I downloaded the installer for Hive 2.0.1 and it runs completely fine. It's seems to be just version 2.1 that crashes my computer. Sent this over to support. Absolutely love the update, just hoping I'll be able to run it on my ancient computer.

Is that a 13" model with a Core 2 Duo? Someone else had the same problem earlier in the thread and it turned out to be their CPU.d.ethier wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 5:49 pmJust purchased Hive 2.1 and unfortunately it crashes my computer instantly when opening. I hate signatures too.

Yes, I'm fairly sure that the move to support Apple Silicon also included some changes regarding very old CPUs. We haven't really been able to test on these anymore, so we might have to guess the minimum specs. On our website we simply write "modern CPU", but if we need to get more specific we'll probably have to set Sandy Bridge as the official bottom end.
