Thanks, for the input! I was asking, because I had some irrational reservations about them, not quite sure why.

Well, they take a % of the sales, but every distributors are doing that. Apparently, there's a bug with their shopping cart for US users, so it's always better to distribute on various websites to make sure your aren't losing any sales. If you have the time to build your own website, I think it's better to use a shopping cart system that handles VAT/MOSS like FastSpring:Zombie Queen wrote:Thanks, for the input! This way, you'll get almost 100% of each sale (I think it's around 92% with FastSpring) and you don't have to worry about bandwidth and VAT/MOSS taxes + you have your customers emails.

Looks like VATMOSS is coming to physical items real soon now - but that they're acknowledging some of the concerns raised.

"8. to reduce the administrative burden businesses face from different VAT regimes: so that sellers of physical goods to other countries also benefit from single electronic registration and payment; and with a common VAT threshold to help smaller start-ups selling online."

Well they need to get their MOSS thing straight. I tried to register for it, and the first thing they ask is your local business ID.

Yay! But on the other hand
so we may have to wait till 2017 for a threshold, assuming things aren't held up with wrangling. And it needs to be a decent-sized threshold too. Still, it took 7 years to implement the original botched legislation, so I guess this counts as swift action. The Digital Single Market project team will deliver on these different actions by the end of 2016. With the backing of the European Parliament and the Council, the Digital Single Market should be completed as soon as possible.

My gloomy suspicion always was that they aim for a common VAT in the whole EU. For all goods and services.Angus_FX wrote:Looks like VATMOSS is coming to physical items real soon now - but that they're acknowledging some of the concerns raised.

Here is a slightly encouraging piece of news, although, given the timeframes these things can take to work themselves out, it could be quite some time before a satisfactory resolution is reached.
