Hi,

I started to developing vst plugin. My plugins are done.Built VST for Win and VST,AU for Mac but waiting for AAX/RTAS SDK to release plugins.

I'm waiting about 1 month but still no answer from AVID.I sent email with my all info and projects.Still waiting...

How long you wait to get SDK?

Thanks!

I got it in a few days. They restructured their dev portal quite recently, perhaps you should check the application form again.
Or release existing formats and earn some 'reputation', although that's not ideal and it seems they give access to the SDK much more easily these days.

I found a new link.

Directly i created account and downloaded AAX SDK now.Is this true way?

I didn't know the SDK was public nowadays.
So you can build the binaries, but you still need to get access for other things under NDA.

Didn't know this, too. Avid has the Audio Developer Program, in which you have to apply (this is not for free afaik). This is essential for 3 reasons:

1. You have to code-sign AAX plugins. This is done via a tool from PACE. You won't get this tool if you're not part of the developer program. You also need a certificate for signing which you need to buy.

2. You'll need access to the developer versions of Pro Tools. You can't debug with an official release. It's some kind of safety limitation.

3. The developer support & forum. The latter often helps very quickly.

After they checked your career/situation/skills you'll get approved or not.

Did you do it like that or did you just send an mail to the contact?

I think you can build it, but that doesn't make much sense because you won't be able to load them in PT without the codesigning. It will simply not scan them or give you errors. That's why you need to be registered and approved by Avid.

Should pay to AVID or to get tool from PACE?

My friend has plugin company and selling AAX,too. He didn't tell me anything about PACE.

I think Avid changed there whole developer program a bit. Back in my days I "only" had to apply and show them what references, interests and skills I have. Then there was a period of time when Avid said "You can apply for AAX but you have to pay a fee for that. But that doesn't ensure you'll get AAX and if you got not approved, you'll not get your money back.". I don't exactly know how it is going nowadays. Once you're in, you just use it and don't care much about it anymore :hihi:

As soon as Avid tells you "you're in", you can contact PACE. Write them you need the SDK for AAX code signing and also tell them your name, company and the iLok ID which you registered with Avid too.
PACE then will check if you're really approved by Avid, send you an software licence agreement and finally the tools.

Code signing means you have to put some informations about you into the binary. This is done via a certificate which ensures it was you, who build the binary. You'll need to buy it for example from DigiCert.

AAX is the top requested feature for me but deferred until I'm 90% sure the sales will cover this price. Apple asks $99 for such certificate.

A sign tool is a computer program and may be free. A digital signature/certificate is a cryptographic key or key pair and isn't free unless you create it yourself. You can create your own signatures for testing but they cannot be verified by a 3rd party, and protools may not recognize them.
