I remembered now this company that's developing for Windows, OS X and iOS: www.imaginando.pt

They just have one product - DRC, but, in spite of them being portuguese, I didn't like it. Let's hope they come up with something better in the future.

You can add Steinberg, Bitwig, Linplug, Tubeohm, Ableton and Waldorf to the Germany column. (Not sure if Emagic still counts after Apple bought them.)

Also Germany- Virsyn, E-Instruments. Does Logic Pro retain much of its German origins?

US- Spectrasonics, Cakewalk Sonar, Pro Tools, Presonus, Antares, Synthogy (Ivory), Garritan, Kyma.

Canada- Plogue.

Sweden- XLN (Addictive drums and keys). Precisionsound (?)

Toontrack?

What's been mentioned so far confirms Germany's creativity. And UK's contribution to soft synths does seem a bit thin, considering its contributions in related areas. Was Alchemy (Camel Audio) of UK origin?

Is there much eastern (eg Chinese, Japanese, Korean) stuff we just don't hear about?

Sienda (Sonalksis) - UK.

Nothing from New Zealand, Canada and South Africa?
Orion Platinum, Muzys 2

Canada gave us Celine Dion and Deadmau5. I think they did enough harm so far...
