Atmospheric breaks is defined by midtempo broken beats and strong ambient and early trance influences (I mean "trance" when it was really trance and before it degraded into some pop-EDM kind of thing  ).

Here are few examples which I think are very characteristic for this genre

If you know more such music please post it here and also this is the thread to discuss favourite releases, compilations, producers, various production related stuff and to post your own tracks too.

Also I have the question - does "atmospheric breaks" exist as a separate genre outside of ex-USSR? I know that these are many producers from different parts of the world making tracks in such style but I have the impression that outside of Russia, Ukraine and perhaps Kazakhstan it is not seen as a consistent style (rather a derivative/subgenre of trance, chillout or progressive house) and also I don't know any Western label focused on such music.

Once again, our tastes for music, or sounds seem to match quite well. :D I'm listening to DI Atmospheric Breaks very frequently... really like the music.

Can't contribute anything but wanted to say I already discovered some good stuff from this thread.
Thanks.

Actually yes, aside from psytrance which iirc you don't like we seem to prefer the same music and the same synths :) .

Could you post some of your fav breaks tracks?

Btw I was making such music a couple of years ago and now consider returning to this genre. These tracks don't have such great mixing and mastering as the pro stuff but some people liked them

This is awesome, being trying to find out tunes like this, because had this kind of sound in my head and started doing one project slowly, my inspiration is obviously on trance side, than few days ago bumped into this tune and I flipped, knocked big smile on my face at around 4:10, love it, it's so my cup of tea and direction I'm going.

Don't know if it fits this thread tho, but yeah, keep tunes coming, love this thread.

Koan surely fits, don't see why it wouldn't. Great stuff, peeps, keep them coming, especially the Ticon's track :tu: I remember that Blackwatch track from some dj mixes or podcasts but I never knew what it is. Except that I don't like Omahua, not sure why - his tracks have all the right elements but I find them boring for whatever reason, maybe a bit too predictable.

Another russian fav of mine from Kursk, called Tetarise, who has put out some of the best music I have heard during the last decade :hail:

If you want atmobreaks you can't go wrong checking him out, and most of his stuff is on the free Aventul netlabel

Yeah, I find myself thinking the same thing with the two of you, cool. I really love this genre as well and have tons of tracks I can share. Already found quite a few nice ones so far thanks to this thread.

To start - Blu 4 U, by Big bud, the original and livewire remix - I know these examples aren't exactly ambient breakbeat, but pretty close. I have some fitting the exact genre, just need to open my music library on other computer first

I know him in person, we chatted several times over the internet about sound-design and other things. I know his Spire soundstes which I think are one of the best for this synth but I never bothered to check his own music, will do asap.

Actually atmobreaks is very popular among Russian Djs, at least used to be a couple of years ago.

Big bud i think is liquid DnB, that's another genre though somehow related, I like it too.

Kurbeats is interesting, though I'm too keen on ethnic melodies of this kind, reminds me about Lord of The Rings movies and similar stuff, never was a fan.

Androcell is awesome, it may be slower than what is commonly considered atmobreaks but has a similar vibe which I quite like, gotta check out more their stuff.

Yeah, nice. A bit slower/more relaxed than what I expect from atmobreaks but still good :)

Love this one
