The soundtrack to Stalker: Shadow Of Chernobyl is easily the best dark ambient I've ever heard - and I've been immersed in that style for about 20 years. The other Stalker games are just as good. The Quake OST for the N64 was great too. Completely different from the other versions - I thought it suited the eerie nature of the game much better. Shadowman for the N64 had an amazing OST too. I've found them all inspiring over the years.
Fallen earth - a little known but incredible MMORPG - has a beautiful OST full of atmosphere that always makes me want to write music.
Video game soundtracks that inspired you.

Oh here's another of my inspirations: Metroid Prime's main theme and menu music. I have a kind of addiction to them. Once I got sick of playing the game (checkpoint saves can kiss my shiny metal ass), I kept loading it up to listen to these themes. Eventually I got MP3 rips off the Internet and haven't started the game in years.

So, how come KVR doesn't show embedded videos for mobile links?
