I would like to learn more about video game music development in general. I know that small indie game development studios doesn't have big budgets for musicians/sound engineers and there is usially only one "sound" guy who specializes in:
- sound design / sfx
- game music
- incorporating all of the above into the game engine

This last part interests me the most - can you share your experience? what are the "golden standards" when it comes to tools? do I have to have a "black-belt" in Unity/Unreal Engine in order be a helpful member of the indie game studio?

Well, it depends on engine the company is using. If they have none of the above, they will have to code their own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
