Is there an authoritative Mellotron sample collection? Every semitone?

I'm thinking something like the leisureland collection, but expanded? unlooped? The Nord collection looks right, but I don't have a Nord.

Do they offer demos? I clicked Try It which ends up in missing flash files or something like that.

RedTron is great, its exactly what I want more of. The guy from mellotron.com says his stuff is available in Akai format, which it seems like people can convert to Kontakt. Does anyone have any experience with those?

Plogue sforzatron is based on the Taijiguy/leisureland samples but takes it further, and it's free

Just for fun: https://medias.audiofanzine.com/files/0 ... 481520.pdf
It would be a real trick to authentically replicate all the nuances. For one thing, you'd need poly aftertouch. I've heard that in general you didn't want to pounce on a note; you'd ease into it (legato). I never quite understood that since I thought it wasn't velocity sensitive. From the manual I figured it out. As you press the key down, two things happen:
1) you're actually pressing the roller into the capstan for that notes, which causes the tap to start moving
2) you're also pushing the tape closer to the read head, so the volume increases
I guess if you strike the key quickly, you get a jerky start -- harder on the tape too. So you're encouraged to go into it lightly so that the volume eases in as the tape reaches full velocity. After that you could use aftertouch to do tremolo or vibrato or both; each key has individual adjustments for the pinch roller and pressure pad, so perhaps you could control their relative amounts. Though I doubt modulating pinch roller pressure would produce a very good vibrato.
And of course, after playing a note (max 8 seconds) you have to wait to play the note again, as the spring pulls the tape back to the original rewound position. I never appreciated how the mechanism worked. I also thought you could get two sounds at once, but I was wrong on 3 counts: they originally had a 3-track 3/8" tape with three sounds, but you get only one at a time. I'm surprised it didn't allow you to sum them, but no doubt there's a reason. Looking at old pictures, I don't see anyone with obvious evidence of adding a mod to do that, so if it was simple I bet we'd see it.
Practically speaking, though, an imitation (sample set only) with none of these nuances would still be very useful.

If you did not care so much about authoritativeness I'd say: Wavesfatory Newmello for a great Mellotron inspired sound (and versatility):

I think this guy made the best Kontakt instrument from the leisureland samples. On par with the standard M-Tron set for me most of the time (minus the feature set of course)...Googly Smythe wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 3:46 pmOnly just noticed that leisureland is linked to from the RedTron site!functionform wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 7:03 am I'm thinking something like the leisureland collection, but expanded? unlooped? There's a mode with looped and expanded range samples and the originals.

I tried but it didn’t work. Not sure if I did it correct but I looked for the folder in kontakt. Found it but no instruments showed.
