For example, you might not want a complex chorus to affect your bass too much, or a hard distortion to totally fry your high end. Either way, multiband processing adds a dimension to effect chains that really opens up a new world of options in sound design. The Omega series plugs are $20 each, and I'm a total fanboi about 458a. Two instances in series in a clean Axiom preset, with Intensity knobs easily tuned to taste, make the finest tubular guitaristic saturation/overdrive/distortion I've ever heard in the digital realm. Total no-brainer, IMHO.
