I've bought the Studio To Go Linux distribution in order to test how my plugs can run : the answer is "rather well".

Studio To Go integrate the DSSI VST wraper inside Wine which allows to run a plugin as standalone by simply double-clicking on the dll file.
The multichannel connections can be done in the Jack panel. It can nearly be used like a modular host, but it is not easy to save and recall the connections.

There is a problem with some plugins since all the internal events that use an automation are not working. Also, some gui elements like meters are frozen.
The result is that about 20 of them run perfectly, another 20 run without some visual feedback, and the others are not really usable.
Not too bad !

The problem remains the lack of multichannel hosts in Linux.
Only Ardour could be used, but it doesn't allow to use the VST. The only one that can do it is Rosegarden, but only in stereo....
