There was one plugin that could add various noises and crackles to audio, emulating varios degradation from Low qiality radio and TV signals, but I don't remember the name.
Devious Machines Texture https://www.deviousmachines.com/texture-2/
Unfortunately, it is not. The one I'm talking about even had some various TVs And radio pictures with every mode.

XLN looks interesting. Need to try it.

But chipcrusher seems like the plugin i was talking about. Thanks for finding this. Will demo both of them! Thanks.

Multiband transient plugins. I use the cubase one but Melda, softube and other have multiband versions.

Waves torque is also useful for detuning kick drums

If you have a good bitcrusher (Decimort 2, for example), and some exotic (Read: Crappy) ir's for a convolution reverb (Trash 2 has some, built in; Also, Logic's 'Space Designer'), you can get very similar results. I do like Chipcrusher's all-in-one approach, though :tu:

I'm biased but wanted to add that Eventide's Physion is great at letting you not only shape transient material but also to let you do things like adjust the pitch of a drum's body, while leaving the transient material unaffected.

It allows you to split the transient and tonal elements of any recording, process them separately, and then bring them back together again.
