Hey everyone, here's my second publicly available VST! (the first one is jsComp)
It's a compressor/waveshaper, and you get to decide how much of each it is! Aside from that it features:
-a 3-band emphasis filter (how about trying to dial in a tape sim??)
-an "analog style" envelope (or at least smoother than the very digital one in jsComp)
-adjustable soft knee
-up to 16x oversampling
-dual mono
-and more (the usual compressor features mostly)
Being that it's still not 100% finished it has a few limitations:
-No GUI (anyone interested in designing one?)
-Bugs? (please report any you may find)
As usual it's pure, hand-coded C++ (no SE, SM etc.).
And if you made it this far, here's the download link :

LATEST UPDATE 2009-07-11:
-x64 build added
UPDATE 2009-07-02:
-Reduced CPU load for oversampling factors >2x
UPDATE 2009-06-26:
-The plugin now is now stereo/dual mono

And one little request, if you find any great settings, please post them so I can add a couple presets to this plugin! Also, any suggestions are welcome, as usual.

Hand coded eh? Does that mean you rolled it in pizza dough and sewed it together with JoAnn fabrics thread?
Mono ins and outs is terrible.

Actually it just means I was typing code instead of pushing around modules with my mouse, butRunBeerRun wrote:Hand coded eh? Does that mean you rolled it in pizza dough and sewed it together with JoAnn fabrics thread?
Why? Most tracks are initially mono anyways, and this one isn't really intended as a bus comp anyways. Besides, I'm still working out if there's any point in anything but a dual mono stereo mode (because of the waveshaping part)Mono ins and outs is terrible.

Does this one support Athlon XP's or is it like jsComp ?

It uses SSE2 again, so, yes, it's probably like jsComp, sorryHolophonic wrote:Does this one support Athlon XP's or is it like jsComp ?

I love the emphasis stuff! Quick and easy way to get things heard.

Sounds like an interesting concept.
I have to concur about mono - I haven't used a mono track in any of my DAWs in years.

Nice to hear someone is already using this feature! Just a note: If it seems like the gain of the emphasis bands seems inverted, this is absolutely normal, as these frequencies will be compressed less than others (just like using a highpass filter in the sidechain).RunBeerRun wrote:I love the emphasis stuff! Thanks for the tip, I sent him an email, let's see if he's interested.K-Slash wrote:I think you guys need to get in touch .

But how much of your material is initially mono? Most of mine is (except for drums). But as pointed out before, the main reason this is mono-only so far, is that I'm not yet sure how best to implement a stereo mode. For the waveshaping, a stereo link doesn't really make sense, OTOH a dual mono compressor tends to shift the stereo image. Maybe you guys have input on what kind of behavior you would expect, that's one of the reasons why I make these early beta releases, so I can get input from those people who will use the plugin! (I'll probably use it myself as well though )runagate wrote:Sounds like an interesting concept.

I wouldn't know anything about that, but it's a good one for drums. I hook things up quickly and want to play, so a little freq boost is good.
