What's your favorite phaser VST?

So, ya, testing some phaser plugins ATM, and, i gotta say that they're very different in terms of sound. So far, i've tested: The onboard phaser from Spire, Adam Szabo's Phazor, the included phaser in Cubase, Melda's MPhaser, and Fazortan from D16. Surprisingly, so far, sound wise, the Spire phaser takes the crown, very nice feedback sound, and Phazor a close second, also sounds very nice. The Cubase one is frankly a bit lame, and the Melda sounds a bit tame, and ordinary. Fazortan lacks a bit of depth, and also sounds a bit ordinary. What is a downside of both the Spire phaser, and Phazor is that they don't let you sync the LFO rate to the host tempo. MPhaser on the other hand has a lot of options, that the others don't offer (including sync to host speed).
What is your favorite phaser, and why? Just wondering if there's anything for free, cheap, or for a reasonable price, that is worth trying out, and that i missed. As mentioned, i love the sound of Spire's phaser, and Phazor, so, a sound similar to those would be highly appreciated.

I don't know how hardware phasers are, but, you surely have a point there, like filters, there don't seem to be many very good ones available.AnX wrote:To be totally honest, ive struggled to find a really good soft phaser... so i'll keep an eye on this thread for tips.
Gonna check it out. Doesn't seem to have many options though, and, talking of "wide", i'd also like to be able to control the spread of the phasing effect.kinwie wrote:+1 for Adam Szabo's Phazor
And recently I like Dead duck phaser, with stages and range set to low which give the creamy sound and less wide.

For soft, there is an old Antti's Phase90. I'm afraid it's only 32bit and possibly not going to be updated. But it is sounds cool.AnX wrote:To be totally honest, ive struggled to find a really good soft phaser... so i'll keep an eye on this thread for tips.
I've use it on a song, for a crunch guitar chords, started at 0:17, here :

This thread http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 6&t=462785 mentions quite a few phasers and my search for a phaser that can approach the John Foxx sound on Metamatic (skip to 4min 20sec):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viG_cSsTHYw
Seems that the MXR Phase 100 phaser and the EH Polyphase were responsible but neither have been satisfactorily emulated yet.
That led to me to get SoundToys PhaseMistress: http://www.soundtoys.com/product/phasemistress/ . Programming that is like programming a synth but the results are worth it, you can drill down and extract a pretty precise feel.
Otherwise I like the BigRock phaser: http://www.artsacoustic.com/artsacoustic_bigrock.php
And just because of the excellent phasing effect this also deserves a mention, the Eminent-V 310 ensemble MkII emulation on Reaktor - brilliant: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/r ... show/4923/
But generally the phaser market is feeling a bit starved imo, could do with a few more inventive plugs!

"depth, rate and mix parameter can be modulate by envelope follower"
I really like that for some reason....

This is my favorite, but I also have been know to throw the Audio Damage BiPhase when I need something with just a smooth and mellow swoosh. Also still have the Enterprise Edition of the NXTPhase bridged to 64 bits.Richard deHove wrote: Otherwise I like the BigRock phaser: http://www.artsacoustic.com/artsacoustic_bigrock.php
Mobil-ohm, if you can get past the interface, holds a lot of possibility as well.

Posibbly I'm weird, but I hardly like the HY plugins.Kr3eM wrote: Have not heard any of them so this is kind of a shot in the dark but hey if you havent tried it...

Yes, this one. Great for psychedelic fx. Additionally, (although I sold it at one point and have regretted it since), I have fond memories of Uhbik-P. A phase monster.Russell Grand wrote:Ohmforce Mobilohm.

MobilOhm is my current fave phaser ... I used to like Ultraphazer http://v3.virtualcreations.de/audio_sof ... ltraphazer
The Audio Damage one sounds good too.

I just tried ArtsAcoustic BigRock - not bad, but, i heard better. Feedback wasn't too strong, and it sounded a bit "standard" too; and the Hy-Phaser - didn't like that one too much. When you don't set the smoother parameter fully right, the feedback sounds pretty whack, pretty lo-fi, and even if you turn smooth all the way up, it doesn't sound too brilliant either.
