Topcheese wrote:Oh yeah and I have thesys. You can program a Major or Minor chord in the performance section. I like it and $10 is a steal for the plugin, but it has nothing on Nora 2. That's my main squeeze right there, and actually they both are nice and get used.

I don't know if I can post links, but if you look at the picture of if on MF, you can see where is shows a Maj chord in the performance section. You do see it also has the live performance effects in the action section on the right of it? It also has proper midi drag and drop. That's what I don't like about Nora, is that you can only export the midi, but doesn't stop me from using it. Good luck!

Hard to pass up this deal.
Got it.
Thanks for the reminder.

Other way round. The iOS app is the full thing. The Mac version is basically just a player though I believe that will be changing.

The only reason I didn’t recommend BIAB (which has become awesome, and which I use all the time) is their emphasis the past few years on RealTracks, their tech which generates your accompaniment using actual recordings of studio musicians. They still have plenty of MIDI, and it sounds pretty good, but RTs are just an order of magnitude better.

Jammer is still strictly MIDI, but I have no idea if they even update it anymore.

One more to the list
RiffLab only $9 but requires Reaktor.

It seems very similar to Thesys may still be on sale for $10?

Hey,

Found one more.
Phrasendrescher about $22. They also have other interesting plugins
It seems very complete. Generates chord progression

Did Aggregato Musica have a sale this holyday season?

Jammer isn't being updated, but it still seems to work fine in Win 10. You can still try the demo, and you can pick it up with all of the styles for $99

Jammer is good if you work with a lot of midi, because you can import and create your own midi styles. Music tech has come a long way, but it still doesn't beat the real thing. BIAB offers you the best of both worlds where now your automatic midi doesn't sound quite "automatic."

If you find the download location please post the link
and
please check if it will work in Windows 10 64 bit and 64 bit DAW.

Since Zyklus improvisor doesn’t have its own midi driver, a DAW can’t see it. In such scenarios it’s best
to use one of the (freeware) available “virtual midi pipeline” programs like MidiYoke. Zyklus improvisor
tested with MidiYoke and works without a hassle.
The screen fires up, but I'm not sure I want to go through the trouble of setting it up, since I won't be using it anyway. I wish I would have found this earlier, it looks cool.

I don't think ZI works under Win10 64. I remember reading somewhere, on here or gearslutz, where the dev even acknowledged that it was hard to setup.

I couldn't get it to do anything, although I didn't install MidiYoke, I don't think the screen is fully functional.

The "Captain Chords" plugin helps you write chord progressions: https://mixedinkey.com/captain-plugins

I think they are basically converting their Odesi song-writing app (http://odesi.mixedinkey.com/) into a set VST plugins, so I expect the upcoming plugins will generate melodies and basslines that fit the chord progression.

Odesi is similar to Sundog Studio which was brought up earlier in this thread.

Completely off-topic, but the combination of your two usernames in this multiquote is sounding like an appetizer platter. :D

Looks like no one mentioned Scaler, which is another "chord builder": https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... 933-Scaler

You might want to learn some music theory to get the most out of these chord builder tools. They aren't exactly generative in the sense that it takes some work to build a chord progression, but they make it easier and faster to experiment and discover new ideas. And they include a bunch chord progressions, so you can explore presets until you find something you like even if you don't really know what's going on.

If you just want to bang on some keys to get random-ish chords, another chord builder called Cthulhu is good for that: https://xferrecords.com/products/cthulhu

Does Cthulhu ever go on sale?
