Viz is here!

We’re thrilled to announce the release of our first plugin, a VJ tool that works both as a VST/VST3/AU plugin as well as a standalone application.

https://echob.it/products/viz-must-visu ... n-software

Viz provides advanced audio analysis parameters that are automatically fed into your shader code as uniforms. This allows you to map color and movement to your music in real time!

A uniquely powerful feature of Viz is that it allows for live-coding of your visuals. The live-coding interface is easy to use, thanks to color-coded variables, and it is built to be fast and fun - like a plugin version of Shadertoy. In addition, we’ve coded in an optional multi-pass layer so that you can add effects to the end of your shader (i.e. kaleidoscope or pixelate). It’s extremely fun to play around with, and we’re very excited to see what everyone creates with it.

ON SALE for $29 at 50% off until December 1st!

P.S. We've been known to send complementary refunds to customers that make cool shaders and tag them on social media with #Viz

Check out this demo to see Viz in action:

P.P.S Mac only for now but Windows support coming soon, as well as AAX cross-platform

Interesting, I've been looking for something like this and went to buy it.

Site says "After purchase you will receive an email with an installer link and license key."
But when I go to pay it adds a $10 shipping charge...what's up with that?

What language(s) does it use for live coding? It mentions OpenGL but that's an API, not a language, thanks.

Is there a written manual or other reference?
Also, your first blog post is a generic "first blog post". :D

Hey this is Josh from Echobit. Thanks for the heads-up. Both issues should be fixed now. If you purchase it like normal I'll hook you up with a full refund as a thank-you. Cheers.

The language is GLSL with slight modifications, such as built-in uniforms that happen under the hood. For instance you don't need to write "uniform float amp" at the top of the code chunk to use amplitude. We just scan the code, check for use of "amp" and then add that if we find it. Same thing with freq, noise, brightness, time, seq1, seq2, slider3, button4, etc. So it makes things fun and quick for experimentation.

There are a few tutorial videos that we made that should get you up and running in addition to all of the presets that give you examples off of which to work. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them directly as we write the official manual and/or make more tutorial videos.

See these links and find more examples of what can be done on our youtube page. One of the most fun things is that there's a second shader layer that can be turned on so that you can add effects to the top of the first layer. None of the other GLSL-sandbox style apps have that feature to my knowledge.

Not yet, however we do have a skeleton in place for that feature and plan to implement it as soon as possible. On Mac you can use Quicktime as a free solution or ScreenFlow for the real-deal (that's what we've been using for all of the tutorials). Both save at full resolution as far as I know but Quicktime will be a little annoying to set up if you want to capture sound. If you just need the video and can sync audio later, you should be good to go with Quicktime (File->New Screen recording).

You can, of course, create a DAW session with plugin Viz and record automation for all of the parameters, shader changes, texture changes, and other controls so that your performance will look the same every time it plays back. That's one of the main reasons we wanted to emphasize its use as an actual plugin.

Additionally, all of the analysis is output as OSC so you can control other OSC compatible synths and patches with the audio metrics that Viz is spitting out.

We're hustling to make that happen. If we can't make the schedule work in terms of the sale end date we'll figure something out to make everyone happy.

Ahhh... from the first moment on Viz's GUI reminded me of Unfiltered Audio plugins.
Joshua Dickinson... there's the connection.

Audio analysis data output as OSC data stream sounds great.
And the demo videos look great.

Looking forward to the windows version.

Cheers,

You caught me. We'll send a second announcement as soon as Windows is ready. Thanks for the interest.

Just a heads-up: we've added a fully-functional demo to our site anyone who's interested can give it a try before buying. The only limitation is a subtle watermark on the visualization. Find it here:

Yes, glad there's a good deal of interest on the Windows front. We're actively working on it and will extend the sale for that launch. Hoping for early december. AAX support will also be added for both platforms.

The other big request we're seeing is Syphon support so that's also on the agenda. :tu:
