There's so much fun to be had with this thing, definetly the best character delay i have.
I'd still like ducking and a tap tempo feature (accomplished by simply tapping with the right mouse button, or ctrl/cmd clicking in the desired tempo on the delay time knob)
It's of course totally great as it already is!
Also, it would be really really neat if it had a tinkerer's view underneath, like u-he Repro, or Cytomic The Scream have, where you could for example change the diffusion colour, dynamics behaviour/transient shaping, or stuff like this.
It doesn't require it, but it would make it would manifest it's ultimate character delay weapon position even further if expanded with some things like this over the time... it's that good.
And people who don't want to use such things won't get distracted too as they don't have to push that little button in one courner that'd enable this extra tweakability.

Good luck to you! The good news is the price won't be going up.bmanic wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 9:39 pmI literally can not afford it at the moment. Living an euro at a time right now (a series of misfortunes and lack of work).. spent 150 euros on the car today as I had to fix the exhaust.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 9:14 pm bmanic, how have you of all people not bought this already? That piggy bank would've been smashed to a million little pieces already.
Preset sounds great BTW. Thanks!
Still, I'm in no hurry. It'll be there once I get some extra income again.

Quite interesting! I had been wondering why you praise it so much - your example sounds marvelous indeed, yet it seems to indicate that you like V-Delay for the exact same reason I tend to dislike it...bmanic wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 9:10 pm <ValhallaDelay pluginVersion="1.0.3v2" presetName="Ghosts in the Aether bM" Mix="1" DelayStyle="1" DelayLSync="0.25" DelayLNote="0.39599999785423278809" DelayL_Ms="0.26199999451637268066" DelayRSync="0.75" DelayRNote="0.34799998998641967773" DelayR_Ms="0.375" DelaySpread="0.5" DelaySpacing="0.88800001144409179688" DelayRatio="0.91799998283386230469" RepeatSwell="1" TapA="1" TapB="1" TapC="1" TapD="1" Feedback="0.65799999237060546875" Width="1" DriveIn="0.44800001382827758789" Age="0.059999998658895492554" Diffusion="0.12399999797344207764" DiffSize="0.12800000607967376709" LowCut="0.056000001728534698486" HighCut="0.25600001215934753418" ModRate="0.27383410930633544922" ModDepth="0.5" Wow="0.5" Flutter="0.5" FreqShift="0.5" FreqDetune="0.57999998331069946289" PitchShift="0.49979165196418762207" PitchDetune="0.50099998712539672852" Mode="0.2916666567325592041" Era="0.6666666865348815918" Reserved1="0" Reserved2="0" Reserved3="0" Reserved4="0"/>
Yeah.. this thing is ridiculously good.
Audio example of patch above (google drive, mp3)
NOTE: Above testing was done with demo version of VDelay so there are some drop outs in the audio.. but you get the idea and you can always copy/paste the preset data above.
This is an absolute must buy.
Sean? Is it just me or is actual saving of presets disabled in the demo version? Would be nice if saving was enabled, no? Not sure how anybody would be able to exploit the system and it'd just be a convenience when moving over to the retail version. I've already done tons of presets and it's annoying to keep them in a text file.

That's just one example of many.. but yeah, I like doing non-standard things with it. For purely basic delays I still use Acustica Audio Lemon mostly.. or if I run out of CPU cycles I use either NI Replica or Soundtoys Echoboy.
There's some kind of very weird "soul" to Valhalla Delay though and the feedback knob is extremely well mapped range wise. It's super easy to control the feedback which makes it very pleasant to use the whole thing as an "instrument".

To me it tends to sound too "washy" (for lack of a better term) - but it's probably not a huge surprise after all, considering where it comes from.
I will admit though that I somehow was hoping for something more... "real"? "tangible"? "authentic"? Something that (to my ears) sounds more true to what it claims/seeks to emulate, I guess... effects that tend to mix themselves, unlike a lot of that digital stuff (then again: I absolutely LOVE Primal Tap, which is digital too - but in a really good way - all imho, of course)

Yeah I do think I know what you mean. Especially the "something that mixes itself" part is something I feel that only Acustica Audio's Lemon does. Heck that one is so weird that it does it better than any hardware I've ever had in the studio. Probably because all transients are immediately turned into Acustica Audio mush.. but in this case in a good way.
But yeah, as a pure mega effects device that just gets my creative juices flowing.. this is it.
Mind you, I'm actually using the built in Reaper modulators (EVF and LFO) to further modulate this thing. It's a bit of a shame there isn't more creative control over the various parameters. Something like this with the added modulators of FF Timeless would be ambient music heaven!

Here are 30 presets, across multiple categories.
On Windows, extract these in: C:\ProgramData\Valhalla DSP, LLC\ValhallaDelay\Presets\User
On Mac: (wherever your other user presets go I suppose)
Why a zip file when there's text-based preset sharing? Simple: too many presets here to SPAM the forum with.
Notes:
1. For Chorus/Flange settings, start with the mix at 50% then adjust (100% wet and you won't hear the effect)
2. Color presets are basically tape/saturation effects, use 100% wet (at least to start)
3. For everything else, dial in the mix to taste
Hope some of you get some use from them.
