The host's readout shows the parameter in percent or int (for example sidechain 0 to 1%, threshold -50 to -10%, ...). That'S bad for automation. It also mentions sidechain, but I can't route an external sidechain signal into it, right? The label for threshold in Buster (-20 to +20) doesn't match the input, please explain what -20 means.

I've setup FabFilter ProC2 with similar settings. Buster sounds pretty crushed in the release time compare to the clean output of ProC. Buster also produces slightly different results depending on what samplerate you're working with.
Sorry about parameters. It's internal and impossible to change for this plugin.

Threshold label about range of signal.

Samplerate issue is not normal. I will update it when i release it with new GUI.

Sorry for very late response...

I'm cool, thanks for the response!

Yes but if I set the threshold to -20, what does that mean? It's neither -20dBFS of the input level nor -20dB RMS or something like that. It just seems like arbitrary labels without any correlation to the input :D

Actually it's threshold's self labels on SSL compressor. It has 40 dB range and shows like this.

New GUI coming in a couple day!

Some users have issues with 3D view, so made it 2D.

shadows look weird, like the light was just above the unit.

If it's anything like CLA's studio, it probably was!

Yeah, really nice UI. Sometimes keeping things simple is all that's needed. Wasn't it Sonimus who did the whole 3D thing with one of their recent plugins and it ended up being flat like this GUI after muchos complaints?

the problem wasn't so much that they were sharp but their direction. at these angles, if it were real hardware, your light source would have been about 30-40cm above the hardware, which would be really weird (even weirder with softer shadows).

Actually no problem. Cause light source at center top. So shadow angles are opposite.

if you put the light even lower and make the shadows go almost horizontal in the opposite directions, would it still be "no problem"? it's technically still "at the top", so shadow angles are "opposite".

and really, no, they're not supposed to be the opposite. well, they are, but not that much - in a well-lit studio there would be multiple light sources (which would cause soft shadows, as you have correctly set up) but they will be much further above the compressor and cause barely noticeable different angles, if at all. with shadows like yours, it's a bizarre mix of a well-lit studio (with softer shadow) and a cramped shed with a light source 50cm above the compressor (because your angles are waay too much slanted in the opposite directions).

bottom line: look at your kitchen stove handles and tell me if they look like your compressor GUI. when you find they don't, try to figure out why (hint: it has to do with distance to the light source :) ).

I agree that the lighting in the UI is strange. Not only the position of the light source but also the knobs material. Such glossiness makes them seem like they're made of glass not usual matt plastic. It's too much and distracting from the knobs indicators. Bypass and GR display seem very flat in comparison.
