As I'm sure most people on this site already know by now Plugin Boutique is giving away Izotope Neutron 2 Elements away with any purchase, which means you can buy Glitch Machines Spiral sample pack(cheapest thing on site atm I think) for $2 and get Neutron Elements for free which actually cost $129. Other really good cheap deals are the Sonivox singles which are still on sale for $3.99. A good combo would probably be getting the Master THe Mix sale on Expose for $12.

Anyway my question is, does anybody care or use Neutron? Nectar looks amazing and Ozone is essential but is Neutron even CPU efficient enough to put on individual tracks. Neutron elements is basically an 8 band eq, exciter, and compressor or am I wrong? The AI learning is beneficial regardless to use at the very least as a reference.

Any ways this is great because I was about to grab Beatskillz rompler Dark KZ anyway because I love the 80s vhs horroh sounds it has packaged and curated for me.

Neutron Elements has a good transient shaper as well.

It seems to be a decent collection of bus/channel processors although the Essentials edition seems a bit limited in terms of tweakability, especially for $129. For "free", can't complain though. I'll definitely bite and get it before the end of the month (waiting to see if something more interesting comes up for sale). However I already have a bunch of go-to EQ's, compressors and other tone/dynamics shapers so I doubt I'll use it much.

they won't get my 2$ for that piece of shit, god why this plugin need so many cpu to perform so basic operation ? then the ui is good looking but buggy (dirtyFlag trigger on each move !!??) and slow (250/300 ms to open).

Element version is the best Neutron version, the multiband and dynamic band are ridiculous cpu hog on standard version.

Unless it's hidden away somewhere on the iZotope site, I don't think there is a Neutron Elements 2. Although Neutron is at version 2, Elements seems to still be at version 1.

Anyway, I'm hoping RX 7 Elements will be up next. Wouldn't mind a cheap upgrade from RX 6.

Well nobody is calling it Neutron Elements 2 not that it matters but it's Neutron 2 Elements so since Neutron is on 2 this is the elements version of that with the computer-assisted learning which so far seems to only want to over compress everything. And just as expected this thing is as greedy with the cpu as a Waves Reverb plugin.

Maybe I'm tripping but I'm also demoing Beatskillz Slam Dawg plugin and it honestly completely takes a dump on both Izotope Ozone and Neutron Elements and runs on a fraction of the cpu. I'm honestly shocked how good Slam Dawg is, maybe it's my taste but everything seems dull after I bypass it.

I had both the advanced versions of each and I always use Ozone and its separate modules but to be honest I really don't see that huge difference between each product, outside of the auto mix features in Neutron.

I just honestly do not see that huge product differentiation between the two and I wish Neutron will go away and get it's 2-3 unique features incorporated into Ozone product lines

Sale does make sense, because I guess people do not get the Neutron product vs the Ozone line.

I actually like it. Great starting point. But, by no means should it be used as a quick mastering tool. imo anyways.

Is it based on Neutron 2 though or Neutron 1? Can't see any difference.

I think still on Neutron 1.

The version number is 1.00 at least and last update on June 6 2017

Does it run stable?

I remember hearing about some issues with Ozone Elements being buggy and someone already mentioned high amount of CPU use.

I mean on paper this is a great offer: an EQ, Exciter, transient shaper and compressor with multiple modes all in one neat package. But of course the performance and usability are key points. If one instance of the plugin brings my CPU down, then it's barely usable.

- You'll get really nice exciter and transient shaper with it which is worth more than $2

- EQ is basic and rather every top daw have similar if not better onboard.

- I don't see any hunger for CPU (i7 4790k) and I could put multiple instances on already busy mix

- Assistant is useless for two reasons: one is that it doesn't analyse your mix so decisions are made based on 'best settings for analysed single instrument sound' - which is opposite to philosophy of mixing which are: 'best settings to mix it with other tracks in the mix'. It may be good for solo instruments tho. Second is you'll get only three presets which makes it usable only in specific situations. I tried it on three mixes (different genres) and once I like but two days later I decided that it's doesnt sound good and two times I disliked what it did.

It's stable, Izotope makes high quality stuff, but sometimes they want to do too much, there's alot of processing going on under the hood. It's cpu hungry but not too crazy where you can't use a couple instances in a mix.

Well that's where they get ya and want you to get Ozone to analyze the whole mix. I think they both should be combined into the same dam plugin.
