I know it's a bad idea but I can't help myself, I've got to say it. This is the sort of Waves shitt that really bugs me. Right now WUP for Waves Gold is $225, or I can buy Waves Gold from Audio Deluxe for 75.95. What sort of root the customer where they don't want it sort of crap is that?

Now, someone tell me I'm unreasonable and show me the enlightened way to view this situation.

I ask nicely... why do you want to WUP your Gold?

The only reasons I can think of are:

You're running a really old copy (pre v10) and need to get V10 licenses
or
You need to get support from Waves and buying the WUP is (slightly) obligatory

There is NO other reason to buy WUP. If you are not doing either of the above, you do NOT NEED WUP!

There's an even better deal right now: upgrade your Gold license to Gold + RenMaxx at Waves.com for less than $24* (use the YNY23 coupon for a 10% discount). This way you get additional plugins and 1 full year of WUP. This is what I did yesterday, by the way.

(* I also had the Renaissance Bass registered)

I would add that you need WUP also to transfer a license. And even if you really need it, still don't forget to tick the box "using plugins on one machine at a time. This will significantly decrease the WUP cost.

Usually yes if WUP expired more than 1 year, and especially when Waves run sales on upgrades.

It shows just how flawed the WUP system is.

But they are determined to keep it alive because they make craploads of money for essentially no service provided. It's free money for Waves.

It's like with computer printers where it's cheaper to buy a new printer than it is to replace the ink in your existing one - that's a classic loss leader tactic but atleast you are getting something for your dollar.

Yes, box is ticked. When you say I don't need to wup you may be thinking of someone else as I doubt you know what I need. I'd explain why I WANT wup but you have upset me too much and I need to go and wipe the tears from my eyes.
