The super black knobs that are almost invisible against the super black background, with small white text and thin knob position indicators along with red LEDs... just adds up to a terrible combo when it comes to legibility. Echoboy Jr. is much easier to use than the original, and the newer plugins are fine IMO. But stuff like the OG Echoboy, the phaser, etc definitely aren’t great GUIs.Russell Grand wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 3:29 am Soundtoy's GUIs are fine. Yes, even the older ones. I don't get what the people that despise the old GUIs are seeing.
Best delay ATM? EchoBoy or Valhalla Delay?

I got some version of Replika I think with my Komplete 11. Not sure if it's the full XT. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... s/replika/
Looks pretty good to me, maybe I should install it.

I think that one of the best musical wise and in-the-mix wise is HY-delay4, seriously, one of the reasons is not so mentioned is because Hyakken is a little bit new in the software market, but he has released big all around version of all his plug-ins for free and deserves to be recognized.
Best is a subjective thing, but there is not anything even close musical-wise, mix-wise and in versatility like HY-delay4 in the delay software market.

I like BlueCat Late Replies, but is has a bit of a learning curve. Ridiculously powerful. For a simpler one I am looking at the Valhalla
That HY delay looks good - a bit like LateReplies but without the VST hosting.

I'll have another look at these two modes later.foosnark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 12:08 amNot sure what you mean here, but surely the Ratio and Quad modes are roughly equivalent to groove? Unless you need a large number of taps with a very specific template...Lotuz2019 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 9:11 pm Something what Valhalla Delay doesn't seem to have, but what EchoBoy and Replika XT do have is the ability to add groove. But the developer of Valhalla Sean Costello seems constantly at work to improve his plugins, so hopefully groove will be added some day.

Personal preferences are always personal ofc. Since I am a real GAS junkie I have Replika XT, Valhalla, Echo boy, Tekturon, Repeater, Sigmund, UVI Relayer, and the list goes on
The delay I find myself using most of the time is Echo Boy. It is not because Echo Boy is that much better than any of the others, but because I am most familiar with Echo Boy. I know what every button does which makes it fast for me to accomplish what I want.
Valhalla can work as a nice bread and butter delay but it can also be very creative, much more than Echo Boy. That also mean that the learning curve is a bit more steap for Valhalla IMHO.

Replika (The standard version you have with Komplete) is a nice little delay plugin. But it really becomes a contender with the XT upgrade. The upgrade is currently on sale, for 25 euros, until the 9th. It's a real no-brainiercodec_spurt wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 6:00 amel-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 4:27 amIf I could only have two delays, they would be ReplikaXT and RP-Delay. Who even uses Sandman Pro as a delay anyway? It's far more suited to making pretty much anything other than straightforward delays. It's great though.dandezebra wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 5:32 am Replika XT for sure at that price. RPDelay is fun too. Don't forget about Sandman Pro from UA as it can do some funky things!

I'm just going mention tritik TkDelay because no one else has.
It's my go to, everyday delay for sure, just no nonsense with all the regular stuff you need right there (stereo panning, versatile filtering, ducking etc). But also reverse, overdrive, freq shift etc right there too. Maybe not as 'creative' as other delays but sufficient options to get weird quickly. Only real negative is the regular price is $49 which puts it in the same bracket as VDelay etc.

Replica and Echoboy seem to use a similar implementation in the PingPong mode. They both sound very musical to me. Valhalla sounds here a bit different for me. I remember about a new behavior for the Ping Pong style with some of the updates? I tested the ValhallaDelay again with the latest update and I don't like the PingPong Mode at all. Therefore... ReplikaXT or Echoboy.

This is strange, actualy Replika's Ping Pong mode is the only ping pong that sounds different from all the delays i ever heard. It has some weird issue with timing and it seems its not a bug.4damind wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 9:40 am Replica and Echoboy seem to use a similar implementation in the PingPong mode.
