Is Ableton's Limiter device really *that* bad?

Same. Works fine for stopping gain overload.
I’m not that into loudness maximizing but when i want it i use PSP Xenon or ToneBoosters Barricade.

I have three limiters that I'll use: For smashing things, D16 Frontier all the way. LOVE that plugin. Not subtle in the slightest. For ear protection, I use the limiter in Tonebooster's Morphit, since I'm usually monitoring through headphones and like the correction curves. Morphit is basically the only thing on my master until the mixing/mastering phase. For final rendering, I'll use Pro-L2, since it has the nicest charting and LUFs metering out of all the plugins I have.
