Finally got around to listening to Crimes of the Heart. Good tune. Great lead vocal melody. Sort of has a Beatlesque Paul McCartney vein. I do not hear Queen at all. Sorry. IMO about 20 to 30% of the notes that make up the vocal melody could be trimmed. The notes to the first few bars of the chorus are really really good then it sort of goes off into too busy.

FWIW.. just stream of consciousness post and based on listening a few times.

Duck Soup

Here we are in dutch again
The curtain's bought to close
All have come to say amen
The emperor has no clothes

Give a little bit to the tart and the twit
The showgirls they all get in line
Birds and the bees and the monkeys in trees
Everyone here is doing fine

Here we are the twins of woe
The show's about to end
At the door are friends and foes
Regards they all do send

Have a little drink as we hide in the sink
The showgirls have walked out the door
Time it will tell if we end up in hell
Either way I'll come here no more

This is the final showdown
This is what it comes to
Be prepared for the hoedown
As we end up in duck soup

In the soup
In the soup
In the soup we go
I hope that you can swim
It's a mystery
Wondering if we
Can get out of this mess we're in
In the soup
In the soup
In the soup we go
I hope you don't get wet
We can speculate
What will be our fate
It's anybody's bet

My latest

Wrecking Ball

You keep me hanging
Up on the wall
Very slow torture
Waiting to fall

You are pure evil
Sent here from hell
Spawn of the devil
My poisoned well

You are my wrecking ball
You are my wrecking ball
You are my, my wrecking ball

Eat out my heart now
That's what you do
Worms in my stomach
Remind me of you

Rot in the attic
Home falls apart
Pain in my gut throbs
Knife through the heart

Repeat Chorus

Someday I'll kill you
And you'll be dead
Then I can go on
Living instead

Until that day girl
Wishing you death
I won't forgive you
Til my dying breath

Repeat Chorus

I think Wrecking Ball is the best song so far in this thread.

I have a few little suggestions though. I'd like to hear the lead guitar a little bit louder, especially in places where there are not vocals to compete with it. On the other hand, your bass guitar seems a little loud. I can't really hear a kick drum. Maybe the bass guitar is masking it? Maybe you could have the kick drum temporarily attenuate the bass guitar a bit, whenever the kick is struck, through the use of sidechaining? Of course, these are just some suggestions. Do whatever you think is best for your project.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with next in this thread. :)

kinda reminds me of that classic line from Plan 9 From Outer Space:

"Inspector Clay is dead. Murdered! And somebody's responsible!"

A little bit of prog and play on words on this one. Ultimately, not really sure what this sounds like. Musically, the most intricate of the 4 tracks so far.

Drag Racing

Put your shoes on
Pretense all gone
No one left here to fool

Be yourself now
You should know how
Either way you're still cool

People they will accept you
If you reach for a star
Never forget
Who you really are

Drag racing like a killer queen
Fast or slow or in between
Drag racing in your high heel shoes
Tall or short win or lose
Be yourself
Be the thing
Grab a mic
And start to sing
Be a queen or be a king
If you don't your life don't mean a thing
Drag racing just like hanging on a wing

Take control now
I'll show you how
In the palm of your hand

Be the hero
Not a zero
Time that you took a stand

Repeat Pre Chorus and Chorus
