ahhhh but I said nothing about discussions, I said arguments Seriously though, I am convinced the best answer is "go with what sounds best to you" as opposed to "you're wrong and one does not sound better than the other".UltraJv wrote:On that level, there would be no discussions on digital emulations vs analogue. it is an interesting effect though and imo should put an end to all these arguments because if someone does hear a difference (whether it is real or not) why bother trying to convince them they dont? If our own mind can do this to us and we cannot convince our own brains that there is or is not a difference how on earth can we convince someone else?
difference in sound...

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Don't forget to check ALL DAW settings! Maybe your missing a well hidden one that slightly changes the sound in one of the two.

There is a clear and very audible difference in the "live" playback sounds of several hosts. This is obvious even after just a few seconds of playing around with them (example: Cubase (mediocre) and Samplitude (great)). The "placebo"-smartasses usually flooding such threads either do not know more than one host, or they are just too proud of their completely f'cked up pair of ears.
There is (almost or absolutely, I don't know and don't care) no difference in rendered wave file output.
Georg

Thast easy to test, use Silver spike TapeIt plugin to stream to wav and then show any differences.GeorgK wrote:There is a clear and very audible difference in the "live" playback sounds of several hosts. well that was uncalled for. I dont think I was being a smartass and I pointed to direct proof that there will always be a placebo thing going on. Why you feel you can tell me how my ears are is a riot and also why these things turn into arguments...note I never swore at anyone nor tried to label/judge anyone.GeorgK wrote: The "placebo"-smartasses usually flooding such threads either do not know more than one host, or they are just too proud of their completely f'cked up pair of ears.

FWIW I do know more than one host, I own several and prefer to go with the one that works best and sounds best to me and I'm not going to argue who is right because I already know the answer...I am right, and you are right, and everyone is right...if they go with what works and sounds best to them.
I do agree in the end one host will not sound better than the other, so given the fact that all hosts will sound the same why bother trying to convince someone there's doesn't sound better...it just doesn't matter and only causes flame wars.
Unless of course you are selling a host and embellishing the features for sales like every company does

Sorry a totally non-sequitur from an aging rock'n'roller. Hopefully it will bring peace to this this thread and perhaps spawn a Beatles are God/Shite thread.

well you see the thing is with the Beatles is that they were good/mediocre/bad/shit at different points of their carrer. it is indeed a minefield of a subject.

not true, if you drop a stereo patch cord off the roof of a 20 story building onto cab and a 20' mic cable as well they will sound much different when they hit the cabhibidy wrote:Remember too, all cables sound the same also.
