Maybe on mac it's different, but when I was using suite, M4L was totally a crash-fest. I eventually just ignored it (out of sight out of mind)

M4L was unstable for me too. So I always limited how much I used it. The instability seemed to be related to how many devices I added. They've changed the version number, I don't know, maybe it's cool now but it was the big complaint from people at the time I was using it (and PDC, which they fixed )
