I am happy now.
When I saw the chord track in the screencast, I thought god.. I don't need that, it reminds me of something else I seen recently... I don't have any issue's with creating and performing chords whilst playing...so will have to look again to see what other practical advantages it provides that I might have missed....

The advertising and self promoting in that video screencast though was god awful though... worst screencast I've seen from Presonus.
One of the reasons I really love a chord track isn't because I can't create chords, though it is faster with the track, it is because it reminds me what chord is in what bar. It keeps me on track, otherwise I change the song every time I play it. I know I could just write it all down, but the chord track is so much easier. I actually finish songs using it. And since I use a lot of VSTi's, it makes it easy.

If i had to guess, then i would say it could take a time until those go on sale the next time, with the software just being released.

Maybe on Black Friday, which was usually the time they had their discounts.

It was half price last black friday if that helps.

This update is worth practically 0 to me. Some basic things are still missing like better midi handling and a better tempo map (with the ability to draw curves) ????

Ok so after watching videos. Is it all? For 149 eu upgrade from v3 proffesional edition the price is very steep because it feels more like a 0.5 (ok 0.6) update.

Does anybody feel the same?

I'm tempted to jump on this just for the ripple editing, but also I've got time to wait for November for the possibility of a sale. Pretty impressed with the chord track, though, and the pattern sequencer does look fun.

Without being able to record sysex from the MIDI input directly to a MIDI item (to the best of my knowledge), without 14-bit CC support, no MPE support... Oh and what about RPN/NRPN? Some might also want to have articulation mapping, it's nowhere to be found in S1.

That chord track is pretty great, though. Trounces the one in Cubase for sure.
Nothing of this is new. OK, maybe MPE. The point is, you know these things, but the guy I was responding to doesn't. And he wants NEW, like AI, folding space, and getting Ivanka Trump laid.
Without NRPN Omnisphere 2.5 won´t be able to respond to the new synth controlled feature.
Spectrasonics said they are in talk with Ableton about it because Live doesn´t support NRPN´s.
Guess they should discuss this with Presonus also.

Cool; thanks! I can wait.

Definitely worth the $126 upgrade for me. Not to mention Presonus will continue to add new features to Verison 4 throughout the next couple years like they did with 3.

For reference, I guess it's a helpful aid to know the chords you've used, but for me I've always done this through visual memory and understanding of the chords that are able to work through playing by ear. I guess if your working in a band and wanting others to follow the chord progression with multiple instrumentalists on a screen, it could help, although when I've performed live in a band on stage, my reference has always been a hand written chord sheet to follow.

Lack of proper Notion integration, traditional notation features in Studio One 4.0 isn't going to impress some people either.

I can't understand the moaning of the frustrated. These new features are amazing and definitely worth the upgrade price. I'm happy that Presonus still focuses on modern electronic musicians and not only converted Pro Tools users:

Enhanced GUI (fresh)
New color scheme (needed)
Chord track (nice)
Drum editor (everyone wanted it)
Musical patterns (stepsequencer) (this is huge!)
Impact XT (perfect)
SampleOne XT (even more perfect due to the lightning speed workflow)
Editor and arrangement sync (elegant)
Zoom per track (useful)
Pitch / velocity note color (useful)
Better multi part editing (elegant)
New (midi) note filter (this is huge!)
Better Macrobar
Import/export of song data (great)
AAF support (needed)
Ripple edit (nice)
Track notes (useful)

Remember though that last time it went half price on black friday wasn't the same year as v3 was released.
